We ask beforehand rather than during, and once told we never test the answer. Being corrected in front of a hall full of relatives has already spoiled the very thing we turned up to record.

Can you photograph a fusion or mixed-faith wedding?+

Often, yes, and they make some of the better days to shoot. The work beforehand is mapping which parts belong to which side and who to ask about each, so that nothing is treated with the wrong kind of care.

How do you approach a wedding held at a mandir or gurdwara?+

We ask what the building expects of visitors and then do that without being reminded. Position, footwear, where a bag may be put down: all of it is settled before we walk in, so your family never has to manage us.

Are you discreet during the ceremony?+

Yes. Long lenses, no flash, and a route worked out beforehand so that we are not moving while something is happening. The measure of it is whether your relatives remember us being there at all.

Do you provide a second photographer?+

Where the day needs one, yes. Two ceremonies running at once, a divided room, or a very tight ceremony space are the usual reasons. If one of us can cover your day properly, you will be told so plainly.

Can you photograph both the ladies' mehndi and the following ceremony?+

Yes, and the two together tell a much better story than either alone. If they fall on consecutive days the only thing to plan is rest, since somebody up since dawn two days running is no use to anybody.
