Fees and room sizes at the Old Marylebone Town Hall
Ceremony fees for the Town Hall's rooms were not published on any official page read for this guide; Westminster says prices are shown on the A Day to Remember booking site, so check there for your room and day. Payment terms are published: the full ceremony fee is due when booking or at least three months before. Cancelling more than three months ahead refunds the fee less the non-refundable booking fee; between three months and 30 days, a 50% refund may be obtained; within a month, nothing is refunded. Cancelling within 24 hours of booking is refunded in full.
Notice at Westminster costs a non-refundable £46.50 per person (the page states no fee year). The statutory ceremony is not held here: it takes place at Westminster Register Office, 317 Harrow Road, W9, on selected Wednesdays, for £84.50 including one certificate.
Room sizes: Westminster Room 100 (with a grand piano, and up to four professional musicians on top of the guest quota), Mayfair and Knightsbridge 30, Pimlico 20, Soho 13, Marylebone 12, Paddington 8. You cannot exceed a room's capacity.
Notice, You Plus Two and what a Westminster ceremony may include
Notice. Both of you must give notice at least 29 days before the ceremony, which may be extended to 71 days depending on immigration status, and both must have lived in England or Wales for at least seven consecutive days first. Notice is valid for 12 months and only for the venue stated. Couples who do not live in Westminster can marry here but may have to give notice in their home borough.
Content. Readings, music and script cannot contain religious content, though incidental references to a god are acceptable; personal vows and an exchange of rings are welcome. The registration office has the final say on wording. Live music is allowed, "with the exclusion of loud instruments such as bagpipes or Dhol drums".
On the day. Two witnesses aged 16 or over. Arrive 30 minutes before your time; arriving more than 10 minutes late may mean the ceremony is moved.
You Plus Two. Limited availability, mainly on Tuesday mornings from October to April; only two guests, who act as witnesses, no music or readings, and no extra guests or photographers.

Getting ready: arrive dressed, with a powder room for touch-ups
There is no getting-ready room. The service asks couples to arrive fully dressed and provides a powder room next to the ladies' bathroom for quick touch-ups before the ceremony. Getting-ready photographs therefore happen at home or at a hotel before you travel.

Planning photographs around a 60-minute slot
- The 60-minute slot covers arrival to departure, so we agree the group list and order before the day and keep it short.
- The front steps are where confetti is allowed and where the façade frames a group; we plan the main group photograph there.
- We work to the registrars' and ushers' directions during the ceremony, as Westminster requires.
- If you book You Plus Two, no photographer can attend; choose a standard ceremony if you want the day photographed.
- Dhol drums are not allowed inside, so plan any dhol for after you leave the building and away from the entrance.
Baker Street, Marylebone and the front steps
The Town Hall is at 97-113 Marylebone Road, NW1 5PT. Baker Street and Marylebone Underground stations are each within a five-minute walk. Step-free access runs throughout the building; disabled guests are escorted through the adjoining Sammy Ofer Centre, and there is no hearing loop. We travel from our Northwood studio.
Parking near the Old Marylebone Town Hall
Vehicles cannot wait at the front pick-up and drop-off point. A privately owned multi-storey car park sits diagonally opposite the building, and parking fees apply. For most guests the Underground is simpler.
