Harrow Register Office fees: what is published and where the pages differ

The notice fee is published: £46.50 per person, or £63.00 per person when one or both partners are subject to immigration control. The fees page shows no effective date.

Ceremony fees for The Pavilion are published on two council pages that disagree, and neither dates its figures. Rather than quote one, ask the Register Office for the fee that applies on your date. Moving or cancelling a Pavilion ceremony costs a £25 administration fee within the 14-day rule; with less than 14 days' notice the full fee is charged.

Capacity is simple: up to 50 seated in The Pavilion, and the couple plus 2 witnesses for a statutory ceremony.

Notice, booking and the two kinds of ceremony in Harrow

Giving notice. Under the law for England and Wales, notice must be given at least 29 days before the ceremony, at the register office for the district where you have lived for the past 7 days, and the ceremony must take place within 12 months of giving notice. Harrow's online booking for The Pavilion is only open once you have given notice.

Full ceremony in The Pavilion. Up to 50 guests seated, in weekday slots of 9.30am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm, or Saturday 9.30am to 11.30am. The room opens onto the courtyard.

Statutory ceremony. This is held in an administrative office. It cannot be personalised, enhanced with music or used for an exchange of rings, only 2 guests are allowed (they act as witnesses), and no photographs can be taken in the room. If photographs matter, a Pavilion ceremony is the one to book.

Ask the Register Office in writing: may a photographer work inside The Pavilion during the ceremony and the signing, and from where? Is flash allowed? Is confetti allowed in the courtyard? Is the courtyard private while you are there? None of these are published.

Getting ready before a Harrow ceremony

The council publishes no getting-ready room at The Pavilion; it is a ceremony room only. With no room published, plan to dress at home or at a hotel and arrive ready, which also means the getting-ready photographs happen there rather than at Perceval Square.

Daylight in the Pavilion courtyard, month by month

Saturday ceremonies at The Pavilion finish by 11.30am, so a Saturday courtyard group is a morning photograph in every month; the evening columns matter only if you plan couple portraits later in the day elsewhere.

Planning the photographs for a Pavilion ceremony

  • Book a Pavilion ceremony rather than a statutory one if you want any photographs: the statutory ceremony bans photographs in the room.
  • Plan the family groups for the courtyard straight after the ceremony; it is the space the council names for photographs.
  • With 50 seats, we keep group lists short and agreed in advance so the next couple's slot is not held up.
  • Ask about photography and flash inside the room before the day, and we work to whatever the registrar sets.
  • Harrow-on-the-Hill is a minute away, so guests travelling by train arrive easily; drivers should allow time for St Anns parking.

Harrow-on-the-Hill, the bus station and St Anns parking

The Pavilion is in Perceval Square, off College Road in the centre of Harrow. Harrow-on-the-Hill station is a one-minute walk, and Harrow Bus Station is two minutes away. The council names St Anns Shopping Centre for parking nearby; no on-site parking is published. We travel from our Northwood studio, a short drive away.

Harrow Register Office wedding photography, frequently asked questions

How much does a wedding at Harrow Register Office cost?

Giving notice costs £46.50 per person, or £63.00 per person when one or both partners are subject to immigration control, according to Harrow's fees page, which shows no effective date. The ceremony fee for The Pavilion is published on two council pages with different figures and no dates, so ask the Register Office which fee applies to your day before you budget. Moving or cancelling costs a £25 administration fee within the 14-day rule, and with less than 14 days' notice the full fee is charged.

Can you take photos at Harrow Register Office?

At a ceremony in The Pavilion, yes: the council says the room leads out to a courtyard where you can take photographs of the ceremony. At a statutory ceremony, held in an administrative office with only two witnesses, the council states that no photographs can be taken in the room. Whether a photographer may work inside The Pavilion during the vows and the signing is not published, nor are flash, video or drone rules, so confirm these with the Register Office when you book.

How many guests can attend a Harrow Register Office wedding?

The Pavilion accommodates up to 50 people seated, according to Harrow Council. A statutory ceremony is far smaller: it is held in an administrative office and only two guests are allowed, who act as your witnesses. No reception space is published at The Pavilion, so couples with a larger guest list usually hold the ceremony at Perceval Square and then move on to a meal or celebration elsewhere. Keep your group photograph list short so the courtyard pictures fit comfortably after the ceremony.

Can you just walk into Harrow Register Office and get married?

No. The law in England and Wales requires you to give notice at least 29 days before the ceremony, at the register office for the district where you have lived for the past seven days, and the ceremony must then take place within 12 months. Harrow only lets you book The Pavilion online once notice has been given. After that, ceremonies run on weekdays from 9.30am to 12pm and 2pm to 4pm, and on Saturdays from 9.30am to 11.30am.

Where do you park for Harrow Register Office?

Harrow Council publishes no on-site parking for The Pavilion and points guests to St Anns Shopping Centre nearby. Most guests will find the train easier: Harrow-on-the-Hill station is a one-minute walk from Perceval Square, according to the council, and Harrow Bus Station is about two minutes away on foot. If older relatives are driving, agree a drop-off plan in advance, because a short ceremony slot leaves little time for anyone circling for a space.
