The council's pages read did not publish a statutory ceremony fee for Brent.

Notice, witnesses and timing at Brent Register Office

Notice. Giving notice is a legal requirement at least 29 days before the ceremony, and Brent advises giving it at least three months ahead. Its terms refer to the required time of 29 or 71 days, depending on circumstances.

On the day. You need two witnesses aged over 16 who speak and understand English. Arrive at least 15 minutes early; the terms set a penalty for arriving more than 15 minutes late.

Spaces. The Ceremony Suite and the Ceremony Gardens are the two licensed venues at the Civic Centre, each for up to 100 guests; the Suite's capacity may be reduced at short notice. The Gardens are booked by phone on 0208 937 1010.

Brent lists photographers, webcasting and aerial photography among its "enhance your day" options. Ask the Registrar in writing whether photography and video are allowed during the ceremony and the signing, whether flash is allowed, and whether confetti may be used in the gardens. None of these are published.

Daylight for the Ceremony Gardens, month by month

The Ceremony Gardens have heaters and a canopy for year-round use. A winter ceremony after 4pm will be after sunset from November to January, so outdoor portraits then are lit by the gardens' fairy lights rather than daylight.

Flower wall, gardens and Wembley Park: photo planning notes

  • The flower wall, the arch and the "love" letter lights are the council's own backdrops; we use them for the first couple and family portraits.
  • The Ceremony Suite has floor-to-ceiling daylight, which keeps faces natural without much added light.
  • Wembley Park is a short walk for couple portraits after the ceremony; on event days at the stadium or arena the area is busy, so check the date.
  • Up to 100 guests means larger family groups than most register offices; agree the list in advance.

Wembley Park, Wembley Central and Engineers Way
