A speech and a dancefloor are different lighting problems. A top table faces into a dark room: the speaker has light on them, the reactions do not, so we watch the listeners rather than whoever has the microphone. The dance is harder still, because a disco rig throws saturated colour no edit fully undoes. We take trouble over the opening thirty seconds, before the floor fills.
