Wembley is a hugely diverse area, home to temples, gurdwaras and grand banqueting suites near the stadium. Sikh families throughout Harrow, Sudbury and Alperton trust us with their celebrations, large and small. We know the local gurdwaras and their early-morning timings well, and plan the day around them.

Inside the gurdwara we work with great discretion, heads covered and shoes removed, never intruding on the kirtan. We photograph the sacred and the joyful with equal care, the Anand Karaj as faithfully as the bhangra. Inside the gurdwara we never turn our back to the Guru Granth Sahib, shooting discreetly from the sides and the back.

Much of our work takes us across Greater London; Wembley, a hugely diverse area, home to temples, gurdwaras and grand banqueting suites near the stadium, and the towns around it, including Harrow, Sudbury and Alperton, are very familiar to us. We also cover nearby Greenford and Northolt. Around Wembley we regularly photograph at The Clay Oven Banqueting Suites, Sattavis Patidar Centre and Wembley International Hotel, among others.

Wembley is a hugely diverse district of the London Borough of Brent, home to major Hindu temples, gurdwaras and grand banqueting suites near the stadium. Wembley Park station on the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines, with Wembley Central and Wembley Stadium stations nearby. For portraits away from the celebration, King Edward VII Park, a green space in the heart of Wembley works beautifully, and Wembley Stadium, the national football stadium with its signature arch adds a real sense of place.

The most sacred moments inside the gurdwara are captured with a quiet long lens, from a respectful distance. We are mindful of gurdwara etiquette throughout, never turning our back to the Guru Granth Sahib. From the milni to the final ardaas, the Anand Karaj tells its own story, and we follow it closely.

The mehndi, the jaggo and the maiyan each carry their own mood, and we photograph them all. We photograph the chunni ceremony and the giving of the choora, and the emotion that comes with them. We capture the groom's arrival for the milni, surrounded by dancing family and the beat of the dhol.
