It is taken from one flank, kept low, because embraces are short and the frame you want carries both faces. Photograph it from behind and you collect a wall of shoulders. A baraat beforehand is loud, slow and generous with time, and nothing else all morning asks so little of you.
Across the four laavan the couple move at walking pace around a fixed centre, and one constraint governs every camera in the hall: what stands at that centre is not scenery for anyone's head. So you are left with the side aisles, the back, longer glass, and a choice of two corners made before you sit down. With palla in hand the pace is slow enough to be worked properly, which is unusual for any part of a wedding. Then the doli, which lasts minutes.
