Wedding Photography at Meridian Grand, London N18

Bespoke packages · fast response · free consultation

Meridian Grand publishes something almost no venue does. Its own FAQ states that the venue supports the full Hindu wedding sequence, naming Mandap ceremonies, Havan (sacred fire), Mehndi events and Jaan arrivals. It also states that it hosts Nikah, Baraat and Walima under one roof. Most halls leave you to establish that by phone.

Our studio is in Northwood and we cover weddings across London, so we are glad to photograph at Meridian Grand. This guide uses only what the venue publishes; where nothing is, we say so.

What Meridian Grand allows, and what it does not say

The venue states in writing that it supports Mandap ceremonies, Havan, Mehndi and Jaan arrivals, and that Nikah, Baraat and Walima can run under one roof. All suites are licensed for civil ceremonies, and multi-day bookings let Mehndi, Nikah and Walima sit on consecutive days.

Gender-segregated events for up to 800 can be arranged, with separate entrances and female-only staff where required. Prayer rooms with mats and ablution are available on request.

Four things to put to the venue, because they are not published:

  • Written fire-safety conditions for a Havan. Havan is supported, but no open-flame terms are published.
  • Whether a Baraat or Jaan can process outdoors, and any restriction on dhol, horses or fireworks outside.
  • Whether outside caterers are still permitted. Older pages offer it; the newer FAQ covers in-house only.
  • Corkage, and whether any supplier list is restrictive or just recommended.

Confirm capacities: the suite pages give 700 and 400 for the ballrooms, the FAQ 300 to 500 and 120 to 350.

Photography planning notes for Meridian Grand

Planning notes drawn from what the venue publishes:

  • The retractable skylight. The Meridian Ballroom has one, facing south-east, so it takes morning and early-afternoon sun, the window a Hindu ceremony usually occupies. Ask whether it will be open, and place the mandap accordingly.
  • 7-metre pillar-free ceilings. Nothing breaks the sightline, so a wide frame of the full ceremony works from the back of the room, with height for a tall canopy.
  • The couples balcony. Both ballrooms have one. It gives two angles on an entrance: you from the floor as you appear, and the room from above.
  • Marble foyer and double staircase. The venue names the foyer as a photo location. With no garden or lawn, indoor spots carry more of the day.
  • No sound limiter. The dhol runs at full volume and nothing cuts the DJ, so we plan for movement and low light.
  • Two weddings at once. Soundproofed partitions can split the building and the foyer, so if another wedding shares your date, ask which half is yours.

No photography or drone policy is published.

The building

You arrive through a marble foyer with a Swarovski chandelier and a double-sided staircase. Both ballrooms are pillar-free with 7-metre ceilings and a couples balcony; the Grand Ballroom carries Swarovski chandeliers, the Meridian Ballroom the skylight. Two VIP bridal suites have private bathrooms, plus attended cloakrooms and air conditioning throughout.

Decor, lighting and AV are in-house, decor through the venue's own studio, Midnight Garden. Whole-venue exclusive hire is offered. There is no garden or lawn, but designated areas at the frontage can host an outdoor ceremony, with or without a marquee. Room dimensions, accessible WC, hearing loop and Blue Badge details are unpublished.

Getting there and parking

Advent Way is in Upper Edmonton, just off the A406 North Circular, which is how most guests arrive. Meridian Water station on Greater Anglia is a 10-minute walk per the venue, and it is a short bus or taxi from Tottenham Hale.

Parking is up to 225 on-site spaces, rising to 300 evenings and weekends, which one venue page calls a free, fully-stewarded car park. Access is step-free, with a lift upstairs.

Meridian Grand wedding photography, frequently asked questions

How much do Indian wedding photographers charge?

There is no single market rate. Our own coverage starts from £750. Price moves with the number of days, whether you need a second photographer, hours covered, whether video sits alongside stills, and what you receive at the end.

How much does an average Asian wedding cost?

We will not invent an average, because it turns on guest count and number of days. For scale, Meridian Grand publishes venue hire at the Meridian Ballroom from £8,000, and the building seats 800 or more. Catering, decor and the number of events are the biggest lines.

How much does a Nikkah cost in the UK?

It depends where it is held. A Nikah at a mosque is usually cheapest. At a licensed venue such as Meridian Grand, which states it hosts Nikah and licenses all suites for civil ceremonies, the cost is the room, the catering and any legal registration arranged separately. Ask the venue and the register office. Our Nikah photography starts from £750.

Is £500 cheap for a wedding photographer?

It is at the low end of the UK market, and our coverage starts from £750, so we are not the answer at that budget. Cheap is not automatically bad. Check hours covered, backup cameras, public liability insurance, whether images are copied to two places on the day, and delivery time.
