The Decorium opened on 10 August 1911 as the Western Road public swimming baths, and the pool was never taken out. In the venue's own words, "the former swimming pool now quietly resides beneath the regal expanse of the Emperor Suite". It is now a dry hire banqueting venue in Wood Green, N22, hosting one event a day, and it publishes its room hire prices for 2026 and 2027.
Our studio is in Northwood HA6 and has photographed weddings since 2001. We are glad to photograph at The Decorium, and our wedding coverage starts from £750. This guide sets out what the venue publishes, and what to ask it.

Room hire at The Decorium: the 2026 and 2027 Pricing Guides
The Decorium publishes room hire in two Pricing Guides, one for 2026 and one for 2027, both uploaded in April 2026. The figures cover the Emperor and Caesar suites together; peak season is April to October, and New Year's Eve is priced separately.
- 2026, peak / off-peak: Monday to Thursday £5,800 / £4,800; Friday £6,800 / £5,800; Saturday or bank holiday £8,300 / £7,300; Sunday £7,800 / £6,800.
- 2027, peak / off-peak: Monday to Thursday £6,200 / £5,200; Friday £7,200 / £6,200; Saturday or bank holiday £8,700 / £7,700; Sunday £8,200 / £7,200.
- Extra hours in 2026: £350 an hour Monday to Thursday, £400 Friday, £450 Sunday, £500 Saturday or bank holiday. The 2027 guide adds £50 to each.
- Ceremony during set-up time: a fixed £1,000, covering up to two hours. A ceremony inside the function window carries no such charge.
- Late extensions beyond 1am: £1,000 an hour in 2026 and £1,050 in 2027, subject to council approval, with a £100 fee if the council refuses.
- Other published charges: £2,000 held on account alongside the hire; £1,000 corkage if a cash bar runs; three hours of kitchen gas included, then £100 an hour to a maximum of eight; excess catering waste at £200 per 1,100 litre bin.
A second schedule on the same day is treated as a second function at 70% of the room rate. Special effects have to be arranged through the venue's approved supplier.
One event a day, true dry hire, and no flammable items
The Decorium is a true dry hire. The 2026 Welcome Pack says plainly that it does not offer in-house caterers or decorators, so your own caterer, decor team and priest come with you. A professional kitchen is available. Deliveries, collections and set-up all have to fall inside the contracted hire period, and sound systems are not supplied by the venue.
It hosts only one event a day, and a Premises Manager is present throughout to oversee building compliance. Haringey Council lists The Decorium in its approved ceremony venue directory, so a civil ceremony can take place in the building.
- No flammable items. Fireworks, smoke bombs, sparklers and any flammable items are not permitted, though the venue says it welcomes professional alternatives through its approved special effects supplier.
- Havan or agni. No specific rule is published. The ban on flammable items is the only written position, so get the venue's answer on a havan in writing before you pay anything.
- Mandap. Nothing is published on whether one is permitted, or on size and rigging limits. Ask.
- Baraat and dhol. Nothing is published on procession space or outdoor music on Western Road.

Bridal and groom suites beside the Emperor Suite
The venue says it has a dedicated bridal suite and groom suite, and the 2026 Welcome Pack lists Bridal and Groom Suites. Next to the Emperor Suite are the Anthony and Cleopatra suites, which the venue describes as suited to event preparation or a quiet retreat for the couple, and the Caesar Suite's ante room can serve as a preparation area. Getting-ready coverage can therefore stay in the building, as long as it fits inside the hire window you book.
Working inside The Decorium's published hire windows
The Pricing Guides publish two hire windows. This outline uses the evening option; the daytime option runs set-up 8am to 1pm, function 1pm to 7pm and clear-down 7pm to 9pm.

Evening light on Western Road, month by month
The Decorium's hire windows run into the evening all year, so a summer function window catches the evening light outside on Western Road, while from October to March it is dark well before the speeches. The Foyer and its staircases are the reliable indoor alternative.

The Foyer staircases, a daylit Caesar Suite and five supplier spaces
Planning notes, from what the venue publishes:
- The Foyer, with its elliptical staircases and crystal chandelier, is where we would plan portraits and family groups.
- Light differs by room. The Caesar Suite has natural daylight; the Emperor Suite relies on dimmable chandeliers and professional lighting, so we would plan to light it ourselves.
- Only five on-site spaces are for suppliers, and more than five supplier vehicles reduces your guest permits, so we agree our arrival with you in advance.
- No sparklers, so no sparkler exit. Plan a closing photograph another way.
- Accessibility and any lift are not published, and the Emperor Suite is reached from a Foyer with staircases. Ask the venue.
A 1911 swimming baths with the pool still under the floor
The building opened on 10 August 1911 as the Western Road public swimming baths. The venue's About page says the pool now sits beneath the Emperor Suite, under neo-classical columns, a sculpted ceiling and 5,500 square feet of floor.
Wood Green station and the double yellow lines outside
22 Western Road, Wood Green, London N22 6UH. Wood Green Underground station on the Piccadilly line is within short walking distance, according to the 2026 Welcome Pack. Guests must not park on the double yellow lines outside, because of a nearby police station, and offenders risk towing. We travel to Wood Green from our studio in Northwood.
Parking at The Decorium: 20 permits and 100 spaces at The Mall
The venue's parking page and Pricing Guides set out the arrangement:
- On site: 20 complimentary spaces included in the hire, 15 for guests and 5 for suppliers. The 15 guest permits are sent by recorded delivery to the booker, and guests without a permit are not let in.
- Suppliers: the host approves suppliers for the 5 spaces. If more than five supplier vehicles arrive, the number of guest permits may be reduced.
- The Mall West car park: 100 spaces on Level 5, entered from Caxton Road N22 6TB, free until midnight on the event day and a 5 to 10 minute walk away. Guests enter their number plate on a tablet in The Decorium's Foyer. Once the 100 are taken, the car park's own tariff applies.
- Rules: the Mall car park is managed independently and may issue fines; payment is due 30 minutes before collecting a car. Unauthorised overnight parking at The Decorium costs £250, and parking complaints must be made in writing within 48 hours.
