Documenting Sikh weddings in Sudbury

Sudbury is a west London area close to major banqueting venues. We travel throughout Greater London for gurdwara ceremonies, and Wembley, Harrow and Alperton are all familiar to us. From Sudbury we cover weddings right across Greater London, at gurdwaras, hotels, marquees and banqueting suites.

Our approach is relaxed and documentary, so you can be present in your own Anand Karaj rather than posing for it. We follow your family's Sikh customs closely and photograph the sehra bandi and the palla exactly as you keep them. We blend candid storytelling with a handful of timeless portraits taken away from the bustle of the gurdwara.

Much of our work takes us across Greater London; Sudbury, a west London area close to major banqueting venues, and the towns around it, including Wembley, Harrow and Alperton, are very familiar to us. We also cover nearby Harrow and Hounslow. Around Sudbury we regularly photograph at Sangam Banqueting, Sattavis Patidar Centre and The Clay Oven Banqueting Suites, among others.

Sudbury forms the western part of Wembley in the London Borough of Brent, close to major banqueting venues. Sudbury Town station on the Uxbridge branch of the Piccadilly line. For relaxed couple photographs, we like Barham Park, with landscaped gardens on the former Barham family estate, and Sudbury Town station, a Grade II star listed building designed by Charles Holden gives the day a strong sense of Sudbury.

Punjabi and Sikh customs understood

We photograph the milni, the morning meeting of the two families, with all of its warmth and garlands. The four laavan, each a hymn the couple circle the Guru Granth Sahib for, are the heart of the ceremony, and we capture them with reverence. We work discreetly at the back and the sides of the darbar sahib, so the Anand Karaj is never disturbed.

We capture the groom's arrival for the milni, surrounded by dancing family and the beat of the dhol. We are glad to cover a single event or the whole multi-day celebration. The maiyan, when turmeric is applied, is full of colour and play, and often holds the warmest moments.
