Sudbury is a west London area close to major banqueting venues. A day that begins at a mandir and ends in a banqueting hall is one we photograph often in Greater London, at venues scattered right across Wembley, Harrow and Alperton. We photograph the seven pheras around the sacred fire closely but unobtrusively, following the vows and the quiet glances between you as the priest leads each round of the ritual.

We let the reception breathe, photographing the first dance, the speeches and the dance floor as they happen, so the energy of the evening reads honestly in your album. We favour available light wherever the venue allows it, so the warmth of the mandap and the colours of the day come through without harsh flash breaking the mood. We compose portraits around the venue and the light rather than forcing a formula, so a garden, a staircase or a lit hall each shapes the images in its own way.

We often take couples to Barham Park, with landscaped gardens on the former Barham family estate for a few quiet portraits, and Sudbury Town station, a Grade II star listed building designed by Charles Holden is a lovely backdrop nearby.

Respecting the pandit and the pace of the ceremony

When the aashirwad begins and the elders come forward, we move gently between them, photographing each blessing and the rice falling as your married life is welcomed by the whole family. When the milni brings the two families together, we photograph the garlands, the embraces and the introductions, so the joining of the families reads as warmly as the joining of you two. The groom's entrance sets the tone, and we photograph the baraat building around him, the family dancing him in and the moment the mandap comes into view for the first time.

Before the wedding we often do an engagement or pre-wedding shoot, giving us time to get to know you and giving you relaxed, natural pictures ahead of the big days. During the vidaai we photograph the family gathered at the door, the rice, the last held hands and the goodbyes, treating the farewell with the tenderness it asks for.
