Saptapadi takes under a minute. No one stages it twice for a photographer, and the instant of the sindoor is the same. For both, the pandit shows us our spot days beforehand, and a body sits pre-set on it, since nothing can be adjusted midway. Seven circuits around a single flame pose the reverse difficulty: shoot each one alike and an album carries a single photograph reprinted seven times. So every pass changes height and side.
