Telling your Sikh wedding story in Tower Hamlets

Tower Hamlets is an east London borough taking in the Docklands. From grand banqueting venues to the calm of the darbar sahib, we are at home everywhere across Hackney, Newham. We are as at ease with a quiet family langar as we are with a reception of several hundred guests.

We photograph with warmth and respect, mindful of the meaning behind each shabad the ragis sing. We photograph the small moments as carefully as the grand ones, the choora and kaleere as well as the four laavan. We document each event as it happens, from the morning milni to the langar, so your gallery feels true to the day.

Tower Hamlets is an east London borough taking in the Docklands, and we love photographing Sikh weddings here and across London and the surrounding area. We regularly cover nearby Uxbridge and Waltham Forest as well. Venues we have photographed at near Tower Hamlets include Town Hall Hotel, Museum of London Docklands and Young V&A.

An east London borough taking in the Docklands, with a diverse community and a mix of historic and modern skyline. Served by Canary Wharf station on the Jubilee line and Elizabeth line, plus the DLR network. For portraits away from the celebration, Victoria Park in the north of the borough, one of London's oldest public parks works beautifully, and Canary Wharf financial district and the historic Tower of London on its western edge adds a real sense of place.

What we offer

Sikh wedding coverage in Tower Hamlets

01

Whole-Day Coverage

From the morning kirtan in the gurdwara to the last bhangra of the reception, told as one story.

02

Reverent & Discreet

We keep the calm of the darbar sahib and work quietly within gurdwara etiquette.

03

The Sehra Bandi

The tying of the groom's turban and sehra before the milni, photographed with all its ceremony.

Every tradition

From milni to the four laavan

We are mindful of gurdwara etiquette throughout, never turning our back to the Guru Granth Sahib. Before the ceremony the groom's sehra is tied, and we photograph the sehra bandi with a gentle eye. We work discreetly at the back and the sides of the darbar sahib, so the Anand Karaj is never disturbed.

The pre-wedding events are often where the most natural photographs come from, and we give them full attention. The jaggo night is an evening of music, dancing and pots lit with candles, and we capture all of its energy. We document the sagai and the engagement that begin the journey, when families ask us.

The whole celebration

Every event, given its due

We can join you for a single event or follow the whole journey from the very first ritual. The pre-wedding events often span several days, each with its own mood.

For the busiest days, a second photographer covers two moments at once, the milni and the bridal prep. The wedding day itself is a journey, from the morning milni and the kirtan to the laavan and the doli.

Why choose us

The right photographer for your Tower Hamlets wedding

Over a thousand celebrations have taught us when to step close for the milni and when to stand quietly back during the laavan. We understand how much the four laavan mean, and we photograph the ceremony with the care it deserves.

We are glad to discuss your gurdwara, your reception venue and the journey between them when you enquire. We are used to Sikh celebrations spread across several venues, and keep the day flowing from the milni to the langar.
