Serving Hackney
Hackney is a creative east London borough. From grand banqueting venues to the calm of the darbar sahib, we are at home everywhere across Islington, Tower Hamlets. We are as at ease with a quiet family langar as we are with a reception of several hundred guests.
We take the time beforehand to understand your family's customs and the order of the maiyan, mehndi and jaggo. We make sure the families are in the story too, from the milni embraces to the blessings of the sangat. We are a reassuring, familiar presence in the gurdwara, so the sangat relax and the day flows naturally.
Whether your Anand Karaj is in Hackney itself or elsewhere in Greater London, we plan travel and timings with care. Hackney is a creative east London borough. We also photograph in nearby Hammersmith and Fulham and Haringey. We are at home at Hackney-area venues such as Hackney Town Hall and Shoreditch Town Hall.
Hackney is a creative east London borough known for its independent shops, markets and a strong arts and music scene. Hackney Central and Hackney Downs stations link the borough via London Overground services. For relaxed couple photographs, we like Victoria Park, one of London's oldest public parks with lakes and open lawns, and The Hackney Empire, a Grade II* listed Edwardian theatre gives the day a strong sense of Hackney.

What we offer
From the morning kirtan in the gurdwara to the last bhangra of the reception, told as one story.
The tying of the groom's turban and sehra before the milni, photographed with all its ceremony.
The maiyan, mehndi and jaggo night, where the warmest, most natural moments of a Sikh wedding often happen.
Every tradition
From the milni to the final ardaas, the Anand Karaj tells its own story, and we follow it closely. The most sacred moments inside the gurdwara are captured with a quiet long lens, from a respectful distance. As the ragis sing each laav, the couple walk slowly around the Guru Granth Sahib, and we photograph it quietly from the side.
The kaleere tied to the bride's choora carry their own meaning, and we photograph the ritual with care. We capture the groom's arrival for the milni, surrounded by dancing family and the beat of the dhol. We photograph the sehra bandi, when the groom's turban and sehra are tied, with all its ceremony.

The whole celebration
The jaggo night brings an evening of music, dancing and candlelit pots before the wedding day itself. We can join you for a single event or follow the whole journey from the very first ritual.
We stay through the evening to capture the reception, from the grand entrance to the last dance. The wedding day itself is a journey, from the morning milni and the kirtan to the laavan and the doli.
Why choose us
Experience means we are ready for the early gurdwara start, the milni and the precise order of the four laavan. We have photographed Sikh weddings and their gurdwara ceremonies across the country for more than two decades.
We cover London and the surrounding area and beyond for the darbar sahib and the reception, and are glad to travel further afield on request. We are glad to discuss your gurdwara, your reception venue and the journey between them when you enquire.

Where we travel
Reaching your gurdwara is simply part of how we work, and distance is never a barrier to covering the milni. We photograph across Greater London regularly, and travelling to a gurdwara in Hackney is second nature to us.
