Hackney Central and Hackney Downs put the borough on the Overground, and that single piece of geography shapes headshot bookings here more than anything else. The studio is in Northwood, HA6, which is a proper cross-London trip from E8, so the default for Hackney is that we come to your address with the lighting and the backdrop, and the Northwood room is there for people who would rather step out of their working week entirely. The more interesting question is which convention the picture has to satisfy. A borough built on independent shops, small studios and a working arts and music scene turns out a great many people who are their own employer. Their headshot does not sit in a grid alongside forty colleagues.
