Serving Hackney

Photographing Asian weddings in Hackney

Hackney is a creative east London borough. Across Islington, Tower Hamlets and the rest of Greater London, we cover the mehndi, the ceremony and the reception with a careful eye. From grand banqueting suites to intimate temple ceremonies, we are at home everywhere across Greater London.

We read the rhythm of an Asian celebration and are always in the right place at the right time. We photograph with warmth and respect, mindful of the meaning behind each ritual across every faith. Our style is unobtrusive, so the day feels like yours and never a photoshoot.

We know Hackney, a creative east London borough, and the surrounding part of Greater London well, having photographed Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings throughout Islington, Tower Hamlets. We are often in nearby Hammersmith and Fulham and Haringey too. In and around Hackney, we have photographed at venues such as Hackney Town Hall and Shoreditch Town Hall.

Hackney is a creative east London borough known for its independent shops, markets and a strong arts and music scene. Hackney Central and Hackney Downs stations link the borough via London Overground services. For portraits away from the celebration, Victoria Park, one of London's oldest public parks with lakes and open lawns works beautifully, and The Hackney Empire, a Grade II* listed Edwardian theatre adds a real sense of place.

Every tradition

Every tradition, beautifully told

The muhurat and muhurtham, the auspicious hours, set the pace of the ceremony, and we plan around them. We are ready for the giving of the sindoor and the tying of the mangalsutra at a Hindu ceremony. We work quietly around the priest, the granthi or the imam so the ceremony is never disturbed.

The mehndi night, the sangeet and the haldi each carry their own mood, and we photograph them all. The haldi or pithi is full of colour and play, and often holds the warmest, most natural moments. The mehndi or henna night is intimate and detailed, and we photograph both the henna and the laughter around it.

The whole celebration

From the baraat to the last dance

We tailor the hours to your events, whether it is one key day or a long weekend of celebrations. The sangeet brings an evening of rehearsed dances and late-night music before the wedding day itself.

On the wedding day, the baraat, the ceremony and the vows build to the farewell and the reception. We know the order and timing of each tradition's wedding day, so we are always in position.
