Serving Walthamstow

Documenting Asian weddings in Walthamstow

Walthamstow is an east London area with a strong South Asian community. We regularly photograph Asian weddings throughout Leyton, Chingford and Leytonstone and the surrounding part of Greater London. The kanyadaan, when a father places his daughter's hand in her husband's, is quiet and full of feeling, and we frame it without ever intruding.

We bring a long lens and a light touch, so the most sacred parts of the day are captured from a respectful distance. For the vidaai we hold back and let the emotion be what it is, photographing the goodbyes gently rather than crowding a moment that belongs to the family. Our approach is relaxed and documentary, so you can be present in your own wedding.

Asian families throughout the area have trusted us with their weddings, and Walthamstow is an east London area with a strong South Asian community, a destination we return to gladly. Nearby Romford and Barking are familiar to us too. Close to Walthamstow, we have worked at venues including Walthamstow Assembly Hall, The Pavilion and Signature Brew Blackhorse Road.

Walthamstow is an east London area with a strong South Asian community, a historic conservation area at Walthamstow Village and one of the longest street markets in Europe. Walthamstow Central is the northern terminus of the Victoria line and is also served by London Overground trains from Liverpool Street. For relaxed couple photographs, we like Lloyd Park, the green grounds surrounding the William Morris Gallery on Forest Road, and The William Morris Gallery, set in the designer's former family home, Water House gives the day a strong sense of Walthamstow.

What we offer

What is included in your Walthamstow Asian wedding coverage

01

Mehndi & Sangeet

The henna, the music and the family performances all deserve proper coverage, and we hold each evening as its own event.

02

Every Tradition

Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim and Tamil ceremonies, with the rituals and rhythm of each understood.

03

Portraits That Last

Between the rituals we gather calm, considered portraits of you both, made to sit comfortably beside the candid frames.

Every tradition

Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim and Tamil weddings

For Tamil and South Indian families, the muhurtham reaches its heart as the thali is tied, and we are in position for that single, defining second. We know the order of the rituals in each tradition, so we are always in position. The blessings of the elders close many ceremonies, and we capture them with warmth.

We capture the groom's arrival in procession, on a horse, in a car or on foot, surrounded by dancing family. For Gujarati families the garba and raas fill an evening with circling colour and movement, and we love following the dandiya sticks and the swirling skirts. From the turmeric of the haldi to the music of the sangeet, the events set the tone for the wedding.

The whole celebration

Following the Days as They Naturally Unfold

Multi-day celebrations ask a lot of a family, so on the early events we stay light on our feet, reading the room rather than rearranging it for a picture. Early events reveal the people behind the wedding, so we spend the haldi and sangeet learning who matters, which helps every later frame feel like it belongs to you.

By the time the dancing starts, we have already learned your family, so the reception frames feel easy and familiar rather than a scramble to catch strangers in the dark. Between the ceremony and the reception there is often a great deal of waiting, and we use that time well, gathering portraits and quiet family moments while the room resets.

Why choose us

Why Couples Across Greater London Trust Us With Their Wedding

Families return to us, and recommend us, because we treat every ritual as it deserves. Decades of weddings mean we read the day instinctively and never miss the moments that matter.

London-based but seldom in London, we spend much of the year photographing weddings out across Greater London and the counties that border it. When your ceremony and reception sit in different towns across Leyton, Chingford and Leytonstone, we map the day in advance so no minute of coverage is lost in transit.

Good to know

Wedding photography in Walthamstow, frequently asked questions

Asian receptions often carry on well into the evening, and we plan our coverage to see the day through to the moments that matter to you. We agree the finishing point in advance, and if the celebration overruns we will always discuss options rather than simply pack away.

Yes. A pre-wedding shoot is a lovely way to relax in front of the camera before the big day, and we are happy to arrange one at a location you love.

Yes, and with care. We photograph respectfully in temples, gurdwaras and mosques across Walthamstow, along with mandaps, marquees and banqueting halls. We keep quietly to one side of the priest, the granthi or the imam, often with a long lens, so the ceremony is never disturbed.

Very much so. A mixed-faith wedding brings two sets of customs together, and we give each the attention and respect it deserves. We speak with both families beforehand to understand what matters most on either side, then plan the day so nobody feels their traditions were overlooked.

You will receive a preview gallery of favourites soon after the day, with your full edited collection following once we have worked carefully through every event. Multi-day Asian weddings produce a large number of images, so we take the time needed to edit them to a consistent, high standard.

Yes. We travel to Walthamstow and right across the surrounding area for Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim and Tamil weddings. Asian weddings of every tradition are our speciality, we are London-based and used to journeys of every kind, and distance is never a problem.

With respect for the space and its customs. We remove our shoes, cover our heads where required and stay mindful of areas we should not enter. Knowing how these venues work lets us find quiet vantage points, so we document the ceremony without ever intruding on it.
