We shoot the whole arc of the day, from the morning preparations to the last dance, as one continuous story, so nothing between the rituals is left untold. Around the mandap we keep our footprint small, using longer lenses so we can frame the pheras closely without ever stepping between you, the priest and the sacred fire. For portraits we guide you lightly rather than posing you stiffly, giving small prompts so you look relaxed, then stepping back to let the natural expressions come.

We often take couples to Lloyd Park, the green grounds surrounding the William Morris Gallery on Forest Road for a few quiet portraits, and The William Morris Gallery, set in the designer's former family home, Water House is a lovely backdrop nearby.

Respecting the pandit and the pace of the ceremony

The groom's entrance sets the tone, and we photograph the baraat building around him, the family dancing him in and the moment the mandap comes into view for the first time. Under the mandap the light and the smoke of the agni shift constantly, and we read it in real time so the pheras stay sharp, warm and true to the moment. As you exchange the varmala, we work from angles that hold both faces and the reaction of the guests around you, so the playful moment of the garland exchange reads clearly in every frame.

The mehndi and sangeet nights are full of colour, music and dancing, and we photograph the garba and raas with the same energy the evening brings to the floor. The mehndi evening moves at its own gentle pace, and we photograph the henna, the music and the anticipation building as the family counts down to the ceremony. During the vidaai we stay a step back, photographing the goodbyes, the rice thrown over your shoulder and the drive away, holding the weight of the moment with respect.
