Ask about the havan fire
Check the venue's rules on open flames before the day. They decide where the mandap goes and whether the fire can be lit indoors.

A Hindu wedding in East London might begin with haldi in an Ilford home and end with a mandap in a banqueting suite. The order of the rites varies by family and pandit, so we go through yours beforehand and the jaimala, the pheras and the blessings are all recorded.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia photographs Hindu and Gujarati weddings in Redbridge, Newham, Waltham Forest, Tower Hamlets and Hackney, covering the Ganesh puja, haldi, sangeet, the mandap ceremony and pheras, and the reception. Wedding photography starts from £750. The boroughs are about 16 to 20 miles from Northwood, and travel to a Hindu wedding in East London is set out in your written quote before you book.
Would 100% recommend Kaushik Bathia Photography! Kaushik and his team photographed all my wedding functions and I couldn't be happier with the results. He listened to us, got to know our family and close one's and captured all the special moments. We had a great mixture of romantic portraits and natural candid photos of the ceremony. Thank you so much for the most beautiful, treasured wedding photos!
I hired Kaushik for our wedding and I’m extremely glad I did!! Kaushik took amazing pictures and the quality of the pictures were amazing. Kaushik was very patient and was very helpful since the start. My family including our guest were constantly asking me who the photographer was as he gave the best service.
The Owner is very friendly and professional. I have been using Mr Bathia for over 15 years and have seen him through multiple family weddings.
The mandap
The mandap is the centre of the day, so where it stands in the room decides most of the photographs. Kaushik asks the venue which way the guests will face, where the priest will sit and where the family will gather for the blessings. A few minutes in the room before the guests arrive is enough to plan the angles.
The couple circles the sacred fire during the pheras; in many Gujarati ceremonies the saptapadi, the seven steps, is then performed as its own rite. Both are photographed from positions that leave the priest and the family undisturbed. The jaimala, when the garlands are exchanged, and the sindoor and mangalsutra afterwards are covered too.
Ask your venue early about the havan fire. Some halls and hotels have rules about open flames and smoke alarms, and knowing them in advance keeps the ceremony on time and the mandap in the right place.

Before the day
The days before the wedding can happen at home or in a hired hall. A haldi in a Walthamstow garden, a mehndi in a front room in Forest Gate or a sangeet in a hall in Ilford each need a different approach: close and candid for the haldi, detailed for the mehndi designs, and wider for the dancing at the sangeet.
Plan the haldi around the space and the light. Morning or late-afternoon light is kinder to turmeric paste and bright outfits, and if the haldi is indoors, the room with the biggest window works best. Each of these events is booked as part of one bespoke package, and the written quote shows the travel from Northwood to every East London address.
Shopping and portraits
For saris, lehengas and jewellery, Green Street in Newham is a regional shopping street for South Asian fashion, and Queen's Market beside it is a publicly owned street market whose traders moved into Queen's Road in 1904. A short outfit shoot on the street before the wedding is possible with the shop's permission.
For couple portraits on the day, Valentines Park in Ilford holds a Green Flag Award for 2026 and has historic gardens around a Grade II* listed mansion. In Waltham Forest, Lloyd Park has original terraced gardens and a moat with an island. Either park suits twenty minutes of portraits on the way from an Ilford or Walthamstow hall to the reception.
Bright wedding colours look best against calm backgrounds: green lawns, old brick and mature trees. Leyton Jubilee Park, the biggest park in Waltham Forest, has a central avenue of London plane trees more than 100 years old, which frames a red or gold outfit well.

Civil ceremony
A Hindu ceremony in a hall can be paired with a civil ceremony. Ask your venue whether it is licensed for civil ceremonies; if it is not, the civil part can take place at the borough's town hall on the same day or earlier in the week.
The council rooms vary a lot. Redbridge Town Hall's Elizabeth Suite holds up to 30 including photographers, East Ham Town Hall's Old Court Room up to 50 on weekdays, and Waltham Forest's Lodberry Suite up to 60. Hackney's Lanchester Suite holds up to 30, and Tower Hamlets Register Office is at St George's Town Hall on Cable Street.
A small civil ceremony a few days early gives you relaxed portraits in simpler outfits and takes pressure off the main day. Kaushik can cover it as a short separate booking within the same package.

Planning
Check the venue's rules on open flames before the day. They decide where the mandap goes and whether the fire can be lit indoors.
If the haldi is outdoors in a Walthamstow or Woodford garden, book it for the morning or late afternoon, when the light is softer on turmeric and bright colours.
If the priest has given an auspicious time for the pheras, send it to us. The rest of the day's photography is planned around that moment.
Valentines Park, Lloyd Park and Leyton Jubilee Park all work for couple portraits. Choose the one nearest your hall to save time between ceremony and reception.
