Use the Bow Lane walled garden
The Preston register office has a walled garden next door for photographs after the ceremony, so plan ten minutes there.

Preston had the highest Hindu share in North West England at the 2001 census, and Blackburn has a large Indian-heritage community. Kaushik photographs the mandvo, garba, mandap and vidaai across Lancashire, travelling about 170 to 177 miles from Northwood.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia photographs Gujarati and other Hindu weddings in Preston, Blackburn, Burnley and the rest of Lancashire, from the Ganesh puja and pithi to the garba, the pheras and the vidaai. Blackburn is about 172 miles from his Northwood studio and Preston about 177, so travel and any overnight stay are set out in your written quote before you book. Coverage starts from £750, built around your events.
…Kaushik has an incredible eye for detail and an exceptional talent for capturing those fleeting, candid moments that made our wedding so unique. The photos are absolutely stunning—full of emotion, vibrancy, and creativity. He didn’t just take photographs; he told the story of our wedding day in the most heartfelt and artistic way possible.
We hired Kaushik for our wedding. He was a fantastic photographer, very professional and great to work with. Kaushik was very flexible with timings, he was patient, and produced amazing photos! We received our photos really quickly and the quality of them are really nice!! His communication throughout was really good and understood what I wanted. My family were also very happy with Kaushik and the photos.
Superb and highly professional wedding photographer. We had the pleasure of working with Kaushik Bathia Photography for a recent wedding at Orchardleigh Estate.
Two towns, one wedding
At the 2001 census, Preston's Hindu share of 3% was the highest of any local authority in North West England. A few miles east, 15.8 per cent of Blackburn with Darwen's residents were of Indian heritage at the 2021 census. The two towns are about 8 miles apart, so one wedding can easily involve both.
That makes the A677 and the M65 corridor part of the planning. A pithi in Blackburn and a mandap in a hall nearer Preston is one possible shape for a Lancashire wedding, and the timetable needs the drive between them built in.
The county guide to Asian weddings in Lancashire covers Muslim and Sikh celebrations as well, and is the right place to start for a mixed-tradition wedding.

Gujarati customs
Gujarati weddings carry their own run-up. The mandvo, the setting up of the wedding canopy and its blessing at the family home, can come a day or two before the ceremony, with the Ganesh puja and the priest. The pithi follows, turmeric paste applied by relatives in a cheerful, messy afternoon that photographs well in daylight.
The garba and dandiya night is the biggest gathering before the wedding. Circles of dancers move fast around the floor, and Kaushik works from the edge first, then steps into the circle for close family. Tell us the hall's finishing time so the last songs are covered.
Not every family holds every event, and each is quoted separately so you choose what is photographed.
The ceremony
The order of the wedding day varies by family and pandit, so we go through yours beforehand. The baraat arrives with music and the families greet each other at the door; at the mandap, the jaimala garland exchange, the kanyadaan and the hastamelap, with the couple's hands joined by the parents and their garments tied together, follow the sequence your priest sets.
During the pheras the couple circles the sacred fire, and in a Gujarati ceremony the saptapadi, the seven steps, often comes afterwards as a rite of its own. Kaushik agrees a position with the priest before the ceremony, so the elders seated near the fire keep their view and the key moments are not missed.
Sindoor, mangalsutra and the blessings of the elders close the ceremony. The national Hindu weddings page sets out each ritual in turn.

Registration
A Hindu ceremony in a hall or hotel is usually paired with a civil marriage. Lancashire County Council's register office on Bow Lane in Preston has the Lancashire Rose Suite, a fully accessible ceremony room seating 74 guests, with a car park beside it and a walled garden next to the office for photographs afterwards.
In Blackburn, Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council's register office is in the Town Hall on King William Street, with an outstation at Darwen Town Hall. Either suits a short civil ceremony on a weekday before the wedding weekend, and it can be added to your quote as a separate booking.
The walled garden at Bow Lane is close enough to the ceremony room for a few family groups before everyone heads to lunch.
Portraits
Preston has two Grade II* listed Victorian parks side by side on the River Ribble. Avenham Park, designed by Edward Milner in the 1860s, has long lawns, the Belvedere pavilion and a 1930s Japanese rock garden. Miller Park next door has a fountain, a grotto and a statue of the 14th Earl of Derby, reached from Avenham through the Ivy Bridge.
In Blackburn, Corporation Park lies half a mile from the town centre along Preston New Road and is registered as a park and garden of special historic interest. For a city-centre option in Preston, Winckley Square is lined with Georgian buildings.
Allow thirty minutes for portraits plus the drive, and plan an indoor fallback for a wet Lancashire afternoon.

Cost and travel
A Hindu wedding in Preston or Blackburn is photographed from £750. Packages are built around your day, with the mandvo, garba, ceremony and reception each priced on its own line, and an optional second photographer, pre-wedding shoot or hand-finished album.
The drive to Lancashire is quoted in writing before you book. With events on back-to-back days, an overnight stay is usually sensible at this distance and is set out in your written quote. Guests coming by train can use Preston station, an interchange on the West Coast Main Line with Avanti West Coast services.
