Start with the muhurat
Your priest's auspicious time fixes the whole day. Send it with the venue address so Kaushik can plan his arrival, especially for mandaps in Stevenage, Hitchin or Bishop's Stortford.

Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil and other Hindu weddings anywhere in Hertfordshire, from the ganesh puja at home to the pheras under the mandap and the evening reception. Kaushik Bathia Photography was established in 2001, and Hindu wedding coverage starts from £750.
The short answer
Kaushik Bathia covers Hindu and Gujarati weddings throughout Hertfordshire from his studio in Northwood Hills, which is 3.6 miles from Bushey and 7 miles from Radlett. Coverage can run from the sangeet and the haldi to the jaan, the mandap rituals and the reception, with each day planned with you in advance. Hindu wedding photography starts from £750, and travel from Northwood is quoted up front and set out in writing before you book.
Would 100% recommend Kaushik Bathia Photography! Kaushik and his team photographed all my wedding functions and I couldn't be happier with the results. He listened to us, got to know our family and close one's and captured all the special moments. We had a great mixture of romantic portraits and natural candid photos of the ceremony. Thank you so much for the most beautiful, treasured wedding photos!
…Kaushik has an incredible eye for detail and an exceptional talent for capturing those fleeting, candid moments that made our wedding so unique. The photos are absolutely stunning—full of emotion, vibrancy, and creativity. He didn’t just take photographs; he told the story of our wedding day in the most heartfelt and artistic way possible.
Superb and highly professional wedding photographer. We had the pleasure of working with Kaushik Bathia Photography for a recent wedding at Orchardleigh Estate.
The shape of the county
Hertfordshire runs from the edge of north-west London, where Oxhey and Carpenders Park sit under 2.5 miles from the studio, up to Royston on the Cambridgeshire side at 34.9 miles. For a Hindu wedding that spread matters, because the events rarely stay in one town. A family in Bushey might hold the mandvo and the pithi at home, a garba night in a hired hall near Watford and the wedding itself at a country house much further north.
The south-west corner, from Rickmansworth and Croxley Green across to Borehamwood, is within 7 miles of Northwood, so a late sangeet and an early haldi the next morning sit comfortably side by side. St Albans, Hemel Hempstead and Potters Bar are 10 to 12 miles out. Hertford, Ware, Stevenage, Hitchin and Bishop's Stortford lie 19 to 31 miles away, and for those Kaushik plans each arrival around the muhurat your priest has given.

Before the mandap
Most of the rituals before the wedding happen at home. The haldi is usually a morning event in a garden or a through-lounge, with turmeric paste, close family and plenty of laughter. It is photographed close and quickly, because the paste goes on fast and the best expressions come in the first few minutes. A cousin who knows the order of the family's rituals is a great help to have nearby.
Sangeet and garba nights tend to move to a hall with a dance floor, where the room is dim and often coloured. Kaushik moves round the edge of the floor so the dandiya circles and the family performances are caught from the front, with the colour of the outfits. A short list of the performances, with who is dancing in each, means none of them is missed.
If the family is thinking about an outdoor mehndi in a Watford park, check the borough's rules first: council permission is needed for any event in its parks, whatever the size, and gazebos, tents and marquees are not allowed unless they are part of a council event. A garden at home, or a hall booked for the evening, avoids the question altogether.
Temples and settings
On the map of Hindu Hertfordshire, the landmark that stands out is Bhaktivedanta Manor at Letchmore Heath, beside Radlett: a Grade II listed house given to the Hare Krishna movement by George Harrison in 1973 and now ISKCON's largest UK property. Festivals such as Janmashtami draw up to 60,000 visitors, so if a temple visit or a blessing is part of your wedding week, look at the festival calendar before fixing a date. Our Bhaktivedanta Manor guide has more on the setting.
For Jain and Gujarati families, a community centre at Northaw, near Potters Bar, has a Jain derasar in landscaped gardens, so a temple visit or a blessing can sit close to the rest of the day. The guide to the Northaw centre sets out what to plan there.
Further north, the distances change the plan. Hitchin is about 25 miles from the studio and Royston nearly 35, so a mandap in the north of the county means an early start, and Kaushik plans his arrival around the muhurat. Nearer Northwood, a mandap in a hall near Watford or Bushey, under four miles away, leaves room for a relaxed morning.

Under the mandap
The order follows what your family and priest have agreed, and the priest sets the pace. Kaushik agrees positions before it starts: one angle on the couple's faces across the sacred fire, one for the hands during the kanyadaan and the hastmelap, and a wider view that shows the parents and the whole mandap. Nothing is staged, and he never steps between the priest and the family seated around the fire.
Under a Hertfordshire mandap, during the pheras the couple circles the sacred fire, and in many Gujarati weddings the saptapadi, the seven steps, follows as its own rite. For part of each round the couple faces away from any fixed spot, so moving quietly round the outside of the seated guests keeps their faces in the frame. The sindoor and the mangalsutra come quickly near the end, so ask your priest for the running order and we will mark those moments on the plan.
A mandap is often built inside a hall or a marquee, so ask the venue early how far it can sit from the walls and whether the side aisles stay clear for moving around. If the venue has gardens, twenty minutes between the ceremony and the reception is enough for portraits of the two of you and the immediate family.
The legal side
You can also hold a civil ceremony, either at an approved venue or at a register office. Hertfordshire County Council runs eight register offices and lists more than 100 approved venues, and it offers 'You and Two' ceremonies at four of the offices. Hatfield Register Office also holds a small statutory ceremony on Tuesday mornings, which suits couples who want the legal part done quietly before the big day.
The rooms differ a lot. Cheshunt's Octagonal Suite at Bishop's College has a vaulted wooden ceiling and tall leaded windows, with a small lake and a bridge over the New River outside. At County Hall in Hertford, the Oak Room seats up to 50, and the Millennium Garden and the cloisters by the main entrance are used for photographs. Kaushik can cover a register office morning on its own or as part of your wider package.

Reading on
Each town page carries its own local planning detail. Close to the studio, start with Watford and Bushey; in the middle of the county try Radlett and St Albans; and to the north, Hitchin. The national Hindu wedding photography page explains each ritual in more depth, and the Hertfordshire Asian wedding guide covers multi-day planning for every tradition.
Planning
Your priest's auspicious time fixes the whole day. Send it with the venue address so Kaushik can plan his arrival, especially for mandaps in Stevenage, Hitchin or Bishop's Stortford.
Festivals at Bhaktivedanta Manor near Radlett draw up to 60,000 visitors, so a temple blessing in the same week needs a careful look at the calendar.
A mandap near Hitchin or Royston, 25 to 35 miles from the studio, needs the muhurat and the address early so Kaushik can plan his arrival.
Watford needs council permission for any event in its parks and bans gazebos and marquees outside council events, so plan an outdoor mehndi at home instead.
Hertfordshire's register office rooms hold 12 to 60 guests. Decide early whether the legal ceremony is a quiet morning or part of the main celebration.
