He arrives before the guests, works quietly around the running order and covers the speeches, the people and the details. The price is given on request, and travel from Northwood is fixed in your written quote.

Our usual session area is within about 20 miles of the studio. Further out in Hertfordshire, sessions are by arrangement, with travel quoted in writing before you book.

Kaushikbhai is an incredible photographer, fantastic 'after event' care and top bloke. I've only known Kaushik for 5 years - and in that short space of time, I can't even begin to count the number of events of ours that he's photographed.

Vim C., Google review, 2017

…On the day, he was there on time and took lots of photographs of all close families and friends, as and when requested and also walking around the venue at different times. The photo taken were ready within the week. The quality in terms of focus, brightness and clarity was amazing. Kaushik knew how to get all party guests to smile in group photos and also capture those natural moments. Great job!

What we cover

Parties, anniversaries and milestones in Hertfordshire homes and halls

Family events are the backbone of this work: a first birthday in a community hall, a 50th in a marquee in the garden, a golden wedding lunch in a restaurant, a surprise 70th in a village hall. Each needs the same things photographed well: the guest of honour, the people who have travelled to be there, the speeches, the cake and the moments in between that nobody planned.

Hertfordshire's community and arts venues give these celebrations plenty of choice. The Radlett Centre on Aldenham Avenue is a theatre and community venue run as a charitable trust, with meeting rooms, a café and function hire. In Rickmansworth, the auditorium of the 515-seat Watersmeet theatre, owned by Three Rivers District Council, can be turned into a flat floor for events and markets.

Christenings

Christenings and naming days in Hertfordshire's old parish churches

The county has a deep stock of old churches. The parish church of St Lawrence the Martyr in Abbots Langley is Grade I listed and began as a 12th-century Norman building, with Norman pillars lining the nave. St Mary's in Hemel Hempstead was built in 1140 and has a 200-foot spire added in the 14th century. Harpenden's St Nicholas was first built as a chapel of ease in 1217, and in Sarratt the Church of the Holy Cross dates from around 1190.

Before the service, we speak to the vicar or the verger about where photography is allowed. Many churches ask for no flash during the service and prefer the photographer to stay in one place for the baptism itself, which suits us: a long lens from the side aisle catches the water and the faces without anyone noticing. The family and godparent groups come afterwards, at the font or outside in the churchyard.

If the celebration moves on to a home or a hall, we follow and photograph the lunch, the cake and the grandparents with the baby. More detail is on our christening photography page.

Corporate events

Conferences, launches and awards evenings in the county

Hertfordshire has large spaces for business events. Watford Colosseum can be hired with a fully seated main auditorium of 1,189, conference capacity with catering of up to 800, and a ground-floor seated dinner capacity of 456. Leavesden Park, beside Warner Bros. Studios, also offers event and meeting spaces for hire.

Smaller sessions are just as common, from a training morning in a business centre meeting room to a team lunch. For a conference we photograph the speakers on stage, the audience reacting, the networking breaks, the sponsors' stands and the awards handovers, so your marketing team has images for the website, the newsletter and next year's invitations.

Community celebrations

Fairs, festivals and community days across Hertfordshire

Much of Hertfordshire's calendar is run by volunteers and councils. Rickmansworth holds Ricky Week each May, ending with the canal-themed Rickmansworth Festival run by the Rickmansworth Waterways Trust. The Oxhey Village Environment Group, founded in 1974, runs an annual summer fair and the Brewfest beer festival. Stevenage Old Town hosts the traditional Stevenage Charter Fair each year, and Meadow Park in Borehamwood holds Movies in the Park and an annual fireworks display.

Organisers often need photographs for grant reports, sponsors, local press and next year's publicity. We agree a shot list in advance: the opening, the stalls, the volunteers, the crowd at its busiest and any presentations. In public spaces we photograph the event as a whole, and we are careful with close-ups of children, taking them only where parents have agreed.

On the day

How an event shoot runs, from arrival to the last speech

Send us the running order, a list of the people who matter most and any photographs you particularly want, such as four generations together or the founders with the award. Kaushik arrives before the guests to look at the light in the room and plan where to stand for the speeches and the cake.

During the event the aim is to be noticed as little as possible. Most of the photographs are taken as things happen, with a few short, organised groups at a point that suits the timetable. Halls and function rooms in Hertfordshire are often dim in the evening, so we bring lighting that fills the room without blinding the guests.

Distance and booking

Booking an event photographer anywhere in Hertfordshire

Events in the south-west of the county are close to the studio: Bushey and Rickmansworth are 3.6 miles away, Watford 3.8 and Radlett 7.0. St Albans and Hemel Hempstead are both under eleven miles, and the furthest towns, such as Bishop's Stortford and Royston, are between 30 and 35 miles. The travel cost from Northwood is set out in writing in your quote, next to the event price, which is given on request.

For more on how events are covered, see the national event photography page. Families planning a christening and a later portrait session may also find the Hertfordshire family photography guide useful, and the Hertfordshire photographer hub covers every service in the county.

Planning

Planning around Hertfordshire

01

Send the running order

A timetable, a list of key people and the time of the speeches lets Kaushik be in the right place for each moment without interrupting anyone.

02

Ask the church early

Each Hertfordshire parish sets its own rules for photography during a baptism, so we check with the vicar a week or two before the christening.

03

Check the room lighting

Village halls and function rooms are often dim after dark. A short visit or a few photos of the room from you helps us plan the lighting.

04

Name a helper

A relative or colleague who knows the guests can point out who is who and gather people for groups, which keeps things moving.

Event photography in Hertfordshire: questions answered

Birthday parties, anniversaries, christenings, naming ceremonies, retirement parties, conferences, product launches, awards evenings, charity dinners and community fairs. If your event has a guest list and a running order, it can be photographed, whether it is in a home, a hall, a hotel or a church.

Yes. We cover the service, the family groups at the font or in the churchyard and the celebration afterwards. Every church sets its own rules on photography during the baptism itself, so we agree these with the vicar before the day and work quietly within them.

Yes. Large spaces such as Watford Colosseum, with conference capacity of up to 800, need a plan for the stage, the audience and the breakout areas. Send us the programme and we will suggest which sessions to cover and when.

Anywhere in the county. The south-west, including Watford, Bushey and Rickmansworth, is under four miles from the studio, and the north and east of the county are further out. Travel from Northwood is always quoted in writing before you book.

Prices are given on request by phone or WhatsApp on 07956 505383, because events vary so much in length, size and location. Once we know the date, the hours and the venue, we send a written quote with the event fee and the travel set out clearly.

Both. The main moments, such as speeches, the cake and any presentations, are covered in full, and in between we photograph guests talking, laughing and catching up. Those candid photographs are often the ones people value most once the event is over.

Yes. Send us a short list of the groups you want, such as the whole family, the grandparents with the grandchildren or the board of directors, and we will organise them at a point in the timetable that suits you, usually before the meal or after the speeches.
