The short answer

Do you photograph events and christenings in Surrey?

Yes. Kaushik Bathia photographs christenings, birthdays, anniversaries, religious and community celebrations, and corporate events across Surrey, from Staines-upon-Thames and Egham in the north to Guildford, Dorking and Redhill in the south. Coverage is booked by the hour, so a short christening and a full evening party are priced differently. Event prices are given on request, and travel from Northwood to the venue is itemised in your written quote.

Our usual session area is within about 20 miles of the studio. Further out in Surrey, sessions are by arrangement, with travel quoted in writing before you book.

What we cover

Family milestones, faith celebrations and company evenings

Event photography in Surrey covers a wide range: a first birthday in a village hall, a 60th in a hotel function room, a golden wedding anniversary at home, an Eid or Diwali gathering, an awards night or a product launch. The approach is the same throughout. Kaushik moves around the room without directing it, photographs the speeches and key moments as they happen, and takes a few organised family or team groups at a time agreed with you.

You receive a set of edited pictures that tells the story of the event from arrivals to the last dance, along with the details you spent time on: the cake, the table decorations, the hand-written cards.

Christenings

Christening and naming-day photography in Surrey churches and homes

A christening usually has two parts: the service in church and a gathering at home or a hall afterwards. Each church sets its own rules on photography during the service, so speak to the vicar or minister first. Many allow pictures before and after, and some allow quiet photography from a fixed spot during the baptism itself.

Surrey's churches range widely in character. Guildford Cathedral on Stag Hill was designed by Edward Maufe and built between 1936 and 1961, and St John's Church in Redhill dates from 1843 with work by John Loughborough Pearson. Whatever your church, Kaushik will ask what is permitted and plan the coverage around it, then follow the family to the party.

Community celebrations

Celebrations for Surrey's communities, including Woking's

Surrey's communities mark their own occasions. Woking has a large Pakistani community centred on Maybury and Sheerwater, and the town is home to the Shah Jahan Mosque on Oriental Road, built in 1889, which is the first purpose-built mosque in the United Kingdom and a Grade I listed building. Family gatherings for Eid, an aqiqah, an engagement or a homecoming are all events Kaushik can photograph, at home or in a hall.

For any celebration tied to a place of worship, the rules of that place come first. Kaushik will ask about photography inside, dress, footwear and times of prayer before the day, and keeps the camera down whenever it should be down.

Corporate events

Awards nights, launches and staff parties for Surrey businesses

For businesses, the job is to record who was there and what happened, and to give the marketing team pictures they can use straight away. That means sharp frames of the speakers, guests talking in small groups, the venue dressed and empty before the doors open, and any sponsor branding that needs to appear.

Surrey's towns have their own cultural buildings, such as the Leatherhead Theatre on Church Street and the Harlequin Theatre and Cinema in Redhill's Warwick Quadrant, and Brooklands Museum in Weybridge stands on the world's first purpose-built motor racing circuit. Whatever your venue, check its photography policy and send the running order in advance, and the coverage is planned to match.

Hours and travel

How event coverage is booked across the county

Event photography is booked by the hour, starting from when you would like the first pictures. A christening might need two hours; a big birthday might need four or five. Tell Kaushik the start time, the main moments and the end time, and he will suggest the shortest coverage that captures everything.

Surrey runs from about 12 miles from Northwood at Staines-upon-Thames to about 27 miles at Redhill. Travel from Northwood is quoted up front and set out in writing before you book, including for an evening party in Reigate or Dorking. Planning

Planning around Surrey

01

Ask the church first

Each church sets its own rule on photography during a christening. Ask the vicar early, and Kaushik will plan the coverage around the answer.

02

Send a running order

A timed list of speeches, cake-cutting and entrances means the right moments are covered and fewer hours need to be booked.

03

Groups at a set time

Agree when family or team groups happen, ideally early before guests drift off, and have someone who knows everyone call people over.

04

Respect places of worship

For Eid gatherings or religious celebrations, Kaushik asks about dress, footwear and prayer times before the day, and keeps photography to what is permitted.
