Products

Product photography for Surrey makers and online shops

Product photography needs consistency more than anything. Every item in a range should share the same light, angle and background so the shop page looks orderly. For small and medium items, the simplest way to get that is to bring or send the products to the Northwood studio, where the set-up can stay in place for the whole batch.

Pack shots on white or a plain colour suit marketplaces and online shops; styled shots with props and texture suit social media and a homepage. You can have both, done in the same session.

Premises

Shop fronts, interiors and high streets across the county

On-site work covers what cannot travel: the shop front, the dining room, the treatment room, the showroom. Surrey's town centres vary a lot. Redhill centres on the Belfry Shopping Centre and a pedestrianised High Street; Esher's high street follows the old Portsmouth Road for about a mile; Guildford's High Street is still paved with granite setts, which give a shop front a distinctive foreground.

Kaushik plans exterior shots for a time when the light falls on the frontage and the street is quiet, often early in the morning. Interiors are lit to look natural, with the lights on and the space tidy, and can be photographed before you open so customers are not disturbed.

People at work

Staff, owners and team pictures for Surrey businesses

Customers like to see who they will be dealing with. Pictures of the owner behind the counter, a chef plating up, a mechanic in the workshop or a consultant with a client tell a story a stock image cannot. These are taken while people work, with a little direction to keep the frame tidy.

If you also need matching portraits of each person for the website, headshots in Surrey can be added on the same day, using a portable backdrop set up in a quiet corner.

Business Surrey

From Leatherhead's employers to Redhill's town centre

Surrey's business life spreads across many towns rather than one centre. In Leatherhead, past employers such as Ronson and Goblin have given way more recently to multinationals including Esso and Unilever. Redhill's Warwick Quadrant holds the Harlequin Theatre and Cinema alongside the shops, and in Staines-upon-Thames the Elmsleigh Centre also houses the town's library hub.

For smaller firms, the distance from Northwood is often the deciding factor between a site visit and a studio session. Staines-upon-Thames and Egham are about 12 to 13 miles away, Woking and Leatherhead about 20 to 22, and Guildford, Reigate and Redhill about 25 to 27. A site visit's travel from Northwood is quoted in writing before you commit.

Process

How a commercial shoot is briefed, shot and delivered

A short brief sets the job up: what the pictures are for, how many you need, where they will appear and any examples you like. Kaushik replies with a plan, a time on site or a studio date, and a written quote.

Edited images are delivered in the sizes you need for web, print and social media. If you plan to use them for advertising, mention it in the brief so the framing leaves space for text. For a broader view of the work Kaushik does in the county, see Surrey photographer.

Planning

Planning around Surrey

01

Send small products to the studio

Items that fit in a box can be brought or sent to Northwood, where a fixed set-up keeps a whole range consistent.

02

Shoot the front early

On busy high streets like Guildford's and Redhill's, an early start avoids passers-by and parked vans in front of the shop.

03

Bring a shot list

A list of the exact images you need, with the sizes and where they will be used, keeps the session efficient.

04

Add staff headshots

If the website needs team portraits too, they can be taken on the same visit with a portable backdrop.
