Enquire before the birth
Send your due date and Surrey town in advance, then message when the baby arrives, so a session can be fixed inside the first two weeks.

Newborn photography at home anywhere in Surrey, planned around your due date and your baby's routine. For parents who prefer to travel, the Northwood studio is about 12 to 27 miles from Surrey's towns.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik Bathia photographs newborns at home across Surrey, from Staines-upon-Thames and Egham to Guildford, Dorking and Reigate. Sessions are usually in the first 5 to 14 days, at your baby's pace, with breaks for feeding and settling. Travel from Northwood, about 12 to 27 miles depending on the town, is quoted in writing before you book, and session prices are given on request by phone or WhatsApp.
Our usual session area is within about 20 miles of the studio. Further out in Surrey, sessions are by arrangement, with travel quoted in writing before you book.
I was nervous about my newborn’s photoshoot but Kaushik made the experience very unforgettable. He knew how to handle my two week old baby with care. The pictures came out very beautiful and were forever grateful. He’s honestly the best. Very experienced, patient and professional. I’ll definitely use him again.
Great service! Kaushik was able to capture some beautiful shots for my maternity baby and bump shoot. He was very helpful and guided me with the poses throughout the shoot. I love the pictures & I’m looking forward to having the final edits!
Amazing service from Mr Kaushik Bathia. He is very professional, friendly and helpful. He made the family photoshoot a funny and pleasant experience. We highly recommend him! Thank you.
At home
In the first fortnight, most new parents would rather not pack the car. So Kaushik comes to you, whether that is a flat in Staines, a semi in Woking or a house on the edge of the Downs near Dorking. He brings lighting, wraps and simple backdrops, and sets up in whichever room has the right space and warmth.
Home sessions also mean your baby is photographed in their own surroundings: the nursery you prepared, the bed they come home to, the arms of whoever is visiting. Those are often the pictures families look back on most. Kaushik works around feeds and nappies, and a session simply pauses whenever the baby needs it.
Surrey's towns range from about 12 miles from the Northwood studio at Staines to about 27 at Redhill. The travel for your address is quoted in writing alongside the session price before you book.

Timing
The sleepiest, curliest newborn pictures usually come in the first 5 to 14 days. The simplest way to plan is to get in touch before the birth with your due date and your Surrey town, then send a message once the baby arrives. Kaushik pencils in a window and fixes the exact day with you.
Babies rarely arrive on time, so the booking is flexible. If your baby comes early, or you need a few extra days to recover, the session moves. Babies photographed a little later are still lovely, just more awake, and Kaushik adjusts the poses and the pace to suit.
Warmth and safety
A newborn session needs a warm room, so it helps to turn the heating up a little before Kaushik arrives, even in summer. Babies settle better when they are warm and fed, and a full feed shortly before the session usually means a sleepier baby.
Safety comes before any picture. Poses follow what the baby is comfortable doing, nothing is forced, and a parent or Kaushik keeps a hand close whenever the baby is on a raised surface. Anything that looks complicated in a newborn picture is either very simple in practice or not attempted.
Allow a couple of hours for the session, because so much of it is feeding, settling and waiting. Nobody is in a rush, and the session ends when the baby has had enough.

The whole family
Older brothers and sisters are usually photographed first, while they are still keen, and then allowed to go and play. A picture of a toddler holding the new baby, with a parent's hands just out of shot, is a simple one to include. Kaushik keeps sibling pictures short and light-hearted.
Grandparents visiting from elsewhere in Surrey or beyond can join in, and so can a family dog that is calm around the baby. Parents' pictures with the baby are worth having too: a new mother and father in their own home are part of the story, not just the background.
Studio option
The studio can suit you better if the home is busy with visitors or has little floor space. The studio is at 21 Joel Street, Northwood Hills, on the Joel Street parade and two minutes from Northwood Hills station on the Metropolitan line. From Staines-upon-Thames or Egham it is about 12 to 13 miles via the M25; from Guildford, Dorking or Reigate, about 25 to 27.
At the studio everything is already set up and warm, and you can sit and feed in comfort between pictures. If you are coming from the far side of the county, a mid-morning start avoids the worst of the early traffic. Either way the price is given on request, and you can switch between home and studio when you book.

Before and after
You can start with a maternity photoshoot in the later weeks of pregnancy, at home or somewhere open nearby, and then book the newborn session from it. Around the first birthday, a cake smash photoshoot is a fun follow-on.
As your baby grows, a family session in a park near home, such as Priory Park in Reigate or the Runnymede meadows near Egham, is the natural next step. The Surrey family photography page lists open spaces across the county, and the main baby photography page explains how newborn sessions work in more detail.

Allow about two hours or a little more. Much of the time goes on feeding, settling and changing, and the session pauses whenever the baby needs it. There is no rush.
Yes. Siblings are usually photographed early in the session, while they are still interested, and then free to play. Parents and grandparents can join in too.
Yes, with care. Poses follow what the baby is comfortable with, nothing is forced, and a hand stays close whenever the baby is raised. The room is kept warm and the pace is set by the baby.
That is expected. The booking is flexible, and the session moves to suit the birth and your recovery. Older babies photograph beautifully too, just more awake.
