First 5 to 14 days
Enquire before the due date for a provisional slot, then confirm by phone or WhatsApp once the baby is born.

A newborn session in the first 5 to 14 days, in your own home anywhere from Hatch End to Hayes, or in the warm studio on Joel Street in Northwood Hills.
The short answer
Yes. Kaushik photographs newborns at home in Harrow, Hillingdon, Brent and Barnet, or you can come to the studio at 21 Joel Street, Northwood Hills, a short drive from Pinner, Ruislip, Eastcote and Harrow. The first 5 to 14 days suit curled, sleepy poses, so get in touch before the due date. Session prices are given on request by phone or WhatsApp, and travel from Northwood to your home is set out in your written quote.
Kaushik has photographed my wife and me for the bump to baby photo shoot. We really enjoyed it. He knows how to make us smile and look happy and relaxed. We really appreciate his work and we look forward to meet him on our next appointment for the newborn photo shoot! Thank you again Kaushik!
I was nervous about my newborn’s photoshoot but Kaushik made the experience very unforgettable. He knew how to handle my two week old baby with care. The pictures came out very beautiful and were forever grateful. He’s honestly the best. Very experienced, patient and professional. I’ll definitely use him again.
We had the loveliest experience having our family photos taken at this photography studio in Northwood Hills. The photographer was absolutely wonderful, so warm, patient and amazing with the kids! He really knew how to keep them entertained and capture their personalities so naturally. 🥰📸 The photos came out absolutely beautiful, and these are memories we will cherish for a lifetime.
Timing
Newborns photograph most easily in the first 5 to 14 days, when they sleep deeply and curl up naturally. Get in touch during pregnancy with your due date, and we pencil in a provisional slot around it. When the baby arrives, a phone call or WhatsApp message fixes the day. Twins, an early arrival or a longer stay in hospital simply move the plan along.
Within this area the journey seldom decides the date. Eastcote is 1.6 miles from the studio, Rayners Lane 2.5, Uxbridge 4.9 and Hayes 6.5, so the choice between home and studio comes down to what suits a household with a brand-new baby. If a parent is recovering from a caesarean, or simply does not want to go out yet, a home session is the gentler option.
Our guide to when to book a newborn session goes into the timing in more detail, and how to prepare for a newborn shoot covers the day itself.

At home
At home, Kaushik sets up near your brightest window, usually in the living room or the nursery, and works from there for most of the session. Please warm the room beforehand, because a baby photographed in a nappy or a wrap needs more warmth than adults find comfortable. Feeds, changes and cuddles are built into the time, and the session moves at the baby's pace rather than the clock's.
The homes here vary widely, from the Arts and Crafts houses on the tree-lined roads of the Northwood-Frithwood Conservation Area to the 1930s Manor Homes of Ruislip Manor, the mock-Tudor Sudbury Court Estate in North Wembley and the Watling Estate in Burnt Oak. A small room is no obstacle: a newborn needs a space little bigger than a sofa, and a plain wall or a bedspread becomes the background.
Comfort and safety come before any pose. Nothing is forced, every position follows the baby's mood, and a parent stays within reach throughout. If the baby is unsettled, we stop, feed, settle and start again, and that pause is part of the plan rather than a delay.
The studio
For families in Northwood, Northwood Hills and Moor Park, the studio is close enough to walk to with a pram. It sits on the Joel Street shopping parade that the builder Harry Neal put up beside Northwood Hills station, two minutes' walk from the Metropolitan line. The studio is kept warm and calm, with somewhere comfortable for a parent to sit and feed.
From Pinner, Hatch End, Ruislip or North Harrow the studio is a short drive, with parking close by. A studio session suits parents who would rather not tidy a room, or who want a plain backdrop and controlled light without rearranging the house. Partners and older siblings are welcome in the frame, and the national newborn and baby photography page shows how a studio session runs.

Siblings and grandparents
Older siblings photograph well early in the session, before patience runs out. A first picture of a toddler holding the baby, with a parent's hands close by, tends to be the one that ends up framed. Keep the sibling's routine as normal as you can on the day, and have a snack ready for the moment their interest fades.
If grandparents live in Kenton, Belmont or Edgware and want to be in the pictures, holding the session at their house can save new parents a trip, or they can join you at the studio. Tell us beforehand who is coming, so the group pictures happen while the baby is settled rather than at the end.
Some families mark a baby's first days with their own customs, from a naming ritual at home to a first visit to a place of worship. If one falls inside the first two weeks, tell us, and we can plan the newborn session around it or photograph both.
The first year
A newborn session pairs naturally with a maternity session at 28 to 34 weeks and a cake smash at around 11 to 13 months. The maternity shoot can happen at home, at the studio or in a garden such as the walled garden at Eastcote House Gardens, and the cake smash takes place at the Northwood studio, where the backdrop and props are ready for the first birthday. See our maternity page for North West London and the cake smash page.
Between the two, a sitter session at around 6 to 9 months, once the baby sits unaided, fills the gap. If you want the whole set, plan it at the first enquiry so that each date lands inside its window, and the family photography page covers what comes after the first birthday.

Planning
Enquire before the due date for a provisional slot, then confirm by phone or WhatsApp once the baby is born.
For a home session, turn the heating up an hour ahead; a baby in a wrap needs more warmth than you do.
From Northwood, Northwood Hills or Moor Park you can push the pram to 21 Joel Street, beside Northwood Hills station.
Pinner, Eastcote, Hatch End and Ruislip are all under two miles from the studio, which helps if the baby needs a feed on the way.
Once the baby is a few weeks old, these sourced parks and open spaces suit a first family walk and a few outdoor pictures.

Town by town
Newborn sessions happen at home in every town below, from Northwood Hills next to the studio to Willesden at about 8.5 miles, and the miles shown help you weigh a home visit against the studio.
Good to know
Ideally within the first 5 to 14 days, when babies sleep deeply and settle into curled poses. Contact us during pregnancy with the due date so a provisional slot is held, then confirm once the baby arrives. If your baby is already older, the session still goes ahead, with more awake and alert pictures.
Yes. Hayes is about 6.5 miles from the studio and West Drayton about 7.2, and Kaushik comes to your home with everything needed for the session. Travel from Northwood is quoted before you book. The studio in Northwood Hills remains an option if you would rather come to us.
A warm room, a feed timed shortly before Kaushik arrives, spare babygrows, a dummy if you use one and a favourite wrap. Clear one surface near a window, such as a sofa or a bed. Ruislip is about 1.8 miles from the studio, so a home visit and a studio session are equally practical.
Yes. Willesden is about 8.5 miles from the studio, at the far edge of this area, and Kaushik comes to you for a home newborn session. Travel from Northwood is set out in your written quote, and the session price is given on request by phone or WhatsApp.
Comfort and safety come first throughout. Every pose follows the baby's mood, nothing is forced, and a parent stays within reach. The session pauses for feeds, changes and cuddles as often as needed, which is why it is never rushed, at home or at the studio.
Yes. Kenton is about 4.4 miles from the studio, so grandparents can meet you there or host a home session instead. Tell us how many people are coming, and the family groups are planned for the part of the session when the baby is calmest.
Session prices are given on request by phone or WhatsApp on 07956 505383, and depend on the session and the prints or album you choose. If Kaushik comes to your home, travel is set out in writing before you book.
Every session is photographed by Kaushik Bathia himself, FBIPP and FMPA, holder of five European Kodak Gold Awards, who opened the Northwood studio in 2001.
