A family session in Harrow Weald is decided by ground surface more than by anything else. The common and the Bentley Priory Nature Reserve beside it are unmanaged land: there is no tarmac, the paths are earth and leaf litter, tree roots break the surface, and after rain the low sections can hold water for days. A pram will manage the first stretch from where you leave the car and then stop being worth pushing. A grandparent who is careful on uneven footing has much the same limit.
