Family sessions can be held at Eastcote House Gardens for most of the year, and Ruislip Manor, Rayners Lane and Northwood Hills are covered on the same basis. Prams, grandparents and short legs all do better here than on open parkland, because the paths are firm and the backgrounds are a few steps apart rather than a walk.
Bring two adults if you can. One goes in the picture and the other stands behind us being ridiculous at the toddler, then they swap. That single arrangement does more for a session with a small child than any amount of equipment, and it costs nothing at all.

Sessions that fit around naps and school
We book the earlier part of the day where naps and school allow, since attention is a finite supply and the light is kinder before noon. A late slot works in high summer, when the walls hold light after the open ground has given up.
Nobody gets arranged into rows. Adults are given something to do with their hands, children are given permission to move, and that is what produces the pictures people keep. Editing stays light: colour and skin corrected, nothing about anybody reshaped.

Hillingdon's parks need council permission for a professional family session, so we would confirm that before the date is set.
- Cavendish Recreation Ground on Field End Road, Eastcote (HA4 9PG), is a council recreation ground with five bookable tennis courts. 1
- Eastcote (Morford Way) is a Hillingdon Council conservation area (reference CA-34) designated on 1 November 1988, next to the Field End Road shops. 2
- Warrender Park and Highgrove history. The 4.35-hectare Warrender Park began as part of the Highgrove Estate landscape park and was sold by Miss Eleanor Warrender in 1935 as a recreation ground, first called Eastcote Recreation Ground, and it adjoins High Grove woodland with parkland trees and a pond. 3
- Pinn Meadows on Kings College Road, Ruislip (HA4 7JY), is a large expanse of open land valued by Hillingdon Council for both nature conservation and recreation, with ponds, an outdoor gym, a cricket ground and the Celandine walks. 4

Yes, and the running order does most of the work. We photograph the baby with each older child early, while the older ones are still willing, then release them and finish with the baby alone. A walled garden helps here, because a sibling who has finished cannot get far, so the last half hour is not spent retrieving anybody.
Of course you can. A calm family dog is very welcome in the pictures. Let us know beforehand so we can plan the frames and keep everyone, on two legs or four, settled.
The gallery follows soon after the session. We hand-pick and edit the best frames and send them to a private online gallery. Prints, canvases and albums can then be chosen at your own pace.
Yes, gladly. Milestone sittings follow a baby from sitting up to first steps and the first birthday. Three or four sittings over the year show just how much changes in twelve months.
There is no need. Toddlers keep a photographer on their toes, and we love that, so we never demand stillness or forced smiles. We play along and follow their lead, and those unplanned moments tend to become the favourites.

Eastcote, in the London Borough of Hillingdon, keeps a conservation area on the upper slopes of the River Pinn that takes in the cricket pitch, Eastcote House Gardens and Haydon Hall Park. If grandparents are coming by Tube, Eastcote station on Field End Road is on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines in Zone 5. For a family arriving by Tube, Eastcote House Gardens on High Road makes a sensible outdoor choice, with the Grade II listed Eastcote station, designed by Charles Holden, as the rail stop for the area.

Visiting the studio with the family
You will find us at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU, a short drive from Eastcote. Family sittings at the studio are by appointment. Families can visit between 10:30 and 18:00 from Monday to Saturday, or 13:00 to 18:00 on a Sunday.
