We take the main group picture early, while energy and patience are high, then move into smaller groupings and more playful moments. Kaushik keeps instructions short and light, and children are allowed to explore between frames. Breaks for snacks or feeds are built in rather than treated as interruptions.
Your family pictures appear in an online gallery, and you choose the favourites without being hurried. Retouching is light, keeping everyone recognisable, and the images arrive web ready and print ready. Prints, frames, canvases and albums can be ordered, and an album is a lovely way to keep the whole session together.

We had a great experience with our family photoshoot. The photographer made everyone feel relaxed and comfortable, which really shows in the final photos. The images are natural, well-captured, and beautifully edited. We’re all really happy with the results and would highly recommend.
I took my elderly parents to have photos path the grandchildren. The whole experience from photo shoot to choosing and picking up the photos was amazing. Kaushik was polite helpful and friendly and made all the kids and my elderly parents feel comfortable. They all enjoyed the experience and the photos were amazing. He even delivered them home on Christmas Eve!
Fantastic service, Kaushik captured some amazing shots of our family. He is patient, professional, friendly and creative which really helps when trying to get pictures with young children. You never feel rushed and the final product will be something we cherish for years to come. This was our second time with Kaushik and we will be going back again. We have no hesitation in recommending him. Thank you Kaushik!

Yes, mostly. A little direction makes sure faces are visible and the light is kind, but after that the family is encouraged to chat, laugh and play. Children walking along the open grass of Cowley Recreation Ground or pointing at birds on the lake tend to give the most genuine expressions.
Babies cry and that is perfectly fine. We pause, let you feed or comfort your baby, and pick up again when things are calmer. Newborn and baby sessions are held in the warm studio precisely so there is no rush and no weather to fight. Patience usually brings the sleepy, peaceful pictures in the end.
Serving Cowley
Cowley, on the canal just south of Uxbridge, is within the area where we hold outdoor family sessions. It sits close to Uxbridge and Hillingdon, which we cover too. Families from Cowley can also come to the Northwood studio for an indoor session.
A towpath walk past the surviving toll house and lock-keeper's cottage at Cowley Lock makes a gentle towpath stroll for a family session. Nearby at Cowley Peachey the Slough Arm splits from the canal, and Cowley Recreation Ground, once the parkland of Cowley House, is another open space for families. Relatives joining the shoot by Tube can use Uxbridge station, the end of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, about 1.3 miles from Cowley. For relaxed outdoor photographs around Cowley, Cowley Recreation Ground is one option, and the Grade II listed toll house at Cowley Lock is a well-known local backdrop.

Guides
Guides from our journal for parents planning a family session from Cowley.
A family session in Cowley can feel surprisingly rural for somewhere so close to Uxbridge. Cowley Recreation Ground was laid out on the former parkland of Cowley House, so it has the broad, open feel of an old estate, with space for children to run between photographs. Down by the canal, Cowley Lock and its listed toll house and cottage give a characterful backdrop, though anyone with toddlers should treat the lockside as a place to hold hands and keep the group back from the edge. Little Britain Lake, to the west, is quieter and greener, and older children may enjoy spotting water birds such as great crested grebe while the camera catches them looking. Water and children need a little planning: bring a change of clothes, keep snacks handy, and decide in advance who is responsible for which small hand. Soft, overcast light works well for families because nobody squints and the shadows under hats disappear. Do not over-coordinate clothing; pick a palette of two or three colours and let each person wear what they are comfortable in. For newborns, or for any date when the weather looks doubtful, the studio is about 6 miles from Cowley on the Northwood Hills parade, with parking close by, steady warmth and room for feeding breaks. Sessions run at the children's pace wherever they happen.
At the studio
Cowley families come to the studio at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU, some 6 miles from home. Family, portrait and headshot sessions there are booked ahead, and printing, framing, restoration and scanning happen in house. On Sundays from 1pm and Monday to Saturday from 10.30am, the doors stay open until 6pm for Cowley families.
Each family is photographed by Kaushik Bathia, a Fellow of both the BIPP and the MPA, whose Northwood studio opened in 2001 and who has five European Kodak Gold Awards.
