Both. In the Northwood studio the lighting is controlled, which keeps headshots, newborns, portraits and product shots consistent in any weather. Outdoors, we would suggest Little Britain Lake, which runs for about 450 metres between the River Colne and the Frays River and is one of the Colne Valley Regional Park sites, or we can come to your home or venue. One booking can combine both, such as studio portraits followed by a walk along the Grand Union Canal.
Aim for the first fortnight, when newborns sleep soundly and curl easily into the classic poses. Older babies are welcome too; we simply change the poses to suit how they move. Pencil in a provisional date before the birth and fix it once your baby has arrived.
Yes, and a maternity session sits naturally alongside a newborn session a few months later. Somewhere between 30 and 34 weeks usually works best, when the bump shows well and you are still comfortable. Maternity sessions are held at the Northwood studio, about six miles from Cowley, where gowns are provided and we guide you into relaxed, flattering poses.
Book a slot that falls after a nap and something to eat, and talk about it as an ordinary outing rather than a big occasion. A familiar toy or comforter can help, and the coaxing is our job. Children tend to take their cue from you, so the calmer you are, the easier it goes.
