Ditton Manor sits off Ditton Park Road between Slough and Datchet, reached along a tree-lined avenue and over a moat bridge into the courtyard. The house was rebuilt in 1817 after a fire, later served the Admiralty, and has hosted weddings since 2013. It takes one celebration at a time, offers dry hire or curated packages, and names Anand Karaj receptions, Mehndi nights and Nikahs among the cultural weddings it hosts.

Our studio is at 21 Joel St, Northwood Hills HA6 1NU, photographing weddings since 2001 and rated 4.8 out of 5 from 580+ Google reviews. We are glad to photograph at Ditton Manor, and coverage starts from £750. Below is what the venue publishes, and what it does not.

What Ditton Manor publishes on price and capacity

Ditton Manor does not publish wedding prices on its website. Couples choose between "the flexibility of a dry hire option" and "a fully curated wedding package, crafted in partnership with trusted experts" (weddings page). The wedding brochure is sent on request through the brochures page, so ask for the current price list and what each package includes in writing.

Capacity depends on the space. The Garden Marquee is a permanent 900 sqm structure that seats 600 in a banquet layout and 900 theatre style, with an entrance lobby, integrated sound and lighting, and its own toilets (meetings and events page). The venue's own Muslim wedding guide gives the Manor House up to 200, the conference centre up to 300 and the Garden Marquee "up to 500+", and its Sikh wedding guide describes marquee and mansion spaces for 250 to 600 or more. The marquee figure differs between pages, so confirm the seated number for your layout, including a stage and dance floor.

The venue hosts "only one celebration at a time", and exclusive use of the entire estate "may be available" through the Guest Experience office. Catering comes from Foodlink Luxury Catering, the resident on-site partner, and the Muslim wedding guide also mentions collaboration with external caterers for specific regional cuisines. Ask which applies to your date, and whether dry hire lets you bring your own caterer.

Civil ceremonies, Anand Karaj receptions and Nikahs at Ditton Manor

Ditton Manor is "an approved wedding and civil ceremonies venue registered with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead", with "a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces licensed for civil ceremonies" (civil ceremonies page). The borough's register lists it as Ditton Manor, Ditton Park Road, Datchet SL3 7JB, and advises couples to check with the venue that the licence will be current at the time of the marriage (RBWM approved venues). Book the registrars through the Royal Borough. Ceremony times and the names of the licensed rooms are not published.

On cultural weddings the venue is specific. Its weddings page lists "Anand Karaj ceremonies and vibrant Mehndi nights to Nikkahs, Chinese Tea Ceremonies, Chuppahs and Sofreh Aghdas" among the weddings it has hosted. Its own Sikh wedding guide says the Anand Karaj itself takes place in a Gurdwara, with Ditton Manor used for the civil ceremony and the reception. Its Muslim wedding guide says the Nikah, Mehndi and Walima can be hosted on site, with segregated or mixed layouts, prayer rooms with qibla orientation, and halal catering through Foodlink.

Not published: whether a Hindu ceremony with a mandap and a havan (open flame) can be held indoors, whether a baraat with a dhol or a horse can come up the avenue, the music finish time and any sound limit. The Sikh guide says dhol and DJs run "subject to agreed sound levels and finish times under local licences", so get those times in writing.

Getting ready: no rooms on site, so plan a nearby hotel

There is no accommodation on site. The FAQ says "there is a wide choice of hotels within minutes or a short drive of Ditton Manor" (FAQ). The weddings pages do not name a getting-ready room in the house, so either book a nearby hotel suite for the morning, or ask the venue whether a room in the Manor House can be set aside before guests arrive. If you want preparation photographs in both families' homes or hotels, tell us the addresses when you enquire so the written quote covers the travel between them.

Planning photographs at a moated manor: the bridge, the courtyard and the gardens

  • The arrival is the set piece: the weddings page describes a tree-lined avenue beyond the gates and "a historic moat bridge into the heart of the manor's enchanted courtyard". The venue's castle guide names the moat bridge at night among its views, so plan an after-dark portrait there.
  • The weddings page describes "towering spires and lush gardens". The castle guide names a Southside outdoor wedding garden, the south face of the house and a grand hallway, which gives a dry option for family groups in bad weather.
  • The filming page lists moated courtyards, sweeping driveways, glass atriums and manicured gardens among the estate's backdrops. A glass atrium is useful soft light on a grey day; ask which one is part of your hire.
  • The venue's Muslim wedding guide says the landscaped gardens suit Mehndi photography and outdoor receptions in warmer months.
  • With up to 600 in the Garden Marquee, allow time to move a large family between the marquee and the house for group photographs. Ask how far the marquee is from the moat bridge.
  • The estate hosts only one wedding at a time, so the courtyard and gardens are yours for portraits.

From the Domesday Book to radar: the house behind the moat

The venue's history page traces the estate to 1066, when it was held by William Fitzansculf, and to the Domesday Book of 1086. It says the estate later became Crown land under Edward IV, was connected with Mary I and Anne Boleyn in the 16th century, and passed to Sir Ralph Winwood, Secretary of State to James I, and then the Montagu family. A fire destroyed the original building in 1812, and the house was rebuilt to its current design by the architect William Atkinson by 1817, keeping the original footprint.

In 1917 the Admiralty bought the manor for £20,000 under the Defence of the Realm Act, and the page dates the idea for the Chain Home radar system to 1935. Weddings began in 2013. In 2023 Netflix filmed Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story there, and the filming page also lists the BBC's Wild Cherry and a Burberry shoot. Today the estate combines the Grade II manor, the modern Southgate Business Centre and the Garden Marquee.

M4 Junction 5, Heathrow and the Datchet postcode

The address is Ditton Park Road, Slough, Royal Berkshire SL3 7JB; the Royal Borough's register places it in Datchet, so put the postcode and what3words ///rocket.even.cake on the invitation. The venue says it is "just minutes from Windsor Castle and the M4 (Junction 5)", and its corporate venue guide adds easy access to the M25 and Heathrow. Public transport directions and the nearest station are not published, so check a route for guests without cars. Parking at Ditton Manor for wedding guests

The venue's corporate venue guide says the estate "offers complimentary parking for over 250 vehicles, with coach and minibus parking available". The wedding pages do not repeat this or say whether cars may stay overnight, so confirm it for your date, especially for a guest list in the hundreds. The estate is private and gated, so give your suppliers' names to the venue in advance.

The venue's Muslim wedding guide gives the Manor House up to 200 and the conference centre up to 300, and calls the marquee suitable for "up to 500+". Because the marquee figure differs between pages, confirm the seated number for your exact layout, including stage, mandap or dance floor.

Can we have an Asian wedding at Ditton Manor?

The venue says it has hosted Anand Karaj ceremonies, Mehndi nights and Nikkahs, along with Chinese tea ceremonies, Chuppahs and Sofreh Aghdas. No. The venue's FAQ says it does not have on-site accommodation, but there is a wide choice of hotels within minutes or a short drive. That affects the morning: plan getting ready at a nearby hotel or at home, and ask the venue whether a room in the Manor House can be used before the ceremony.

Is Ditton Manor exclusive use?

The filming page also lists the BBC's Wild Cherry and a Burberry fashion shoot.
