Sessions are deliberately short, around forty five minutes of photography with pauses built into it. We follow the children instead of posing them, and we finish when their attention has gone rather than pushing on to fill a booked hour.
You receive a retouched gallery, colour and monochrome, sized for prints and for sending to relatives who could not be there. Because you are local, a session that ended early can be finished on another day, and here that is normal rather than a favour.

Yes, and usually at your home rather than ours, because a very new baby should not be moved and the room needs to be properly warm. The first fortnight is easiest for the deeply asleep pictures, though there is no cut off. Being based in Northwood helps: the session runs to the baby, so a long feed simply takes as long as it takes.
We are already in Northwood, so there is no journey to build the day around and a session at your home is quick to arrange. With a toddler in the house that matters more than it sounds: the hour can be picked to suit a nap rather than a drive, and if the day goes badly we simply pick another one at no extra trouble to you.
Allow roughly an hour, with no pressure to finish on the dot. A newborn or toddler session gets extra room for feeds, naps and cuddles, whether we are at your home in Northwood or at the studio.
Just tell us as early as you can. Coughs, colds and bad nights come with small children, and a poorly child is better photographed on another day. We will then offer a new date that works around nursery and school.
Prints, framed wall pieces, canvases and hand-finished albums can all be made from the pictures you choose. Once the session is done you get an edited online gallery to look through at home before deciding what to order.

Our family studio sits on Joel Street, at the Northwood Hills end of Northwood. It sits close to Pinner and Eastcote, which we cover too. Families in Northwood can come to the studio or have us visit, and travel within the town is not charged.
For open space nearby there is Northwood Recreation Ground on Chestnut Avenue, with a children's playground, cricket pitch and tennis courts, which passed to what is now Hillingdon Council in 1913. Grandparents coming by Tube can use Northwood station off Green Lane, on the Metropolitan line in zone 6, or Northwood Hills, the stop closest to the studio. For a session outdoors we would suggest Ruislip Woods National Nature Reserve, which Hillingdon Council describes as the largest block of ancient, semi-natural woodland in Greater London, for families who are all confident walkers.

Our studio is at The Broadway, 21 Joel St, Northwood HA6 1NU, where families can call in to talk a session through. Walk in without an appointment for passport and ID photos printed on the spot; printing, framing, restoration and digitising are done on the premises too. Families are welcome between 10:30 and 18:00 Monday to Saturday, and from 13:00 to 18:00 on Sunday.
Kaushik Bathia, FBIPP and FMPA, opened the Joel Street studio in 2001 and has five European Kodak Gold Awards to his name.
