Serving Northwood
Family sessions run at your own home, outdoors on level ground around Northwood, or in the room in the town when the sky is against us, and Moor Park, Northwood Hills and Rickmansworth are arranged the same way.
Newborns, first birthdays and groups pulling grandparents in from further afield make up most of the local diary. The rule we work to, and it prevents more trouble than anything else does, is that the whole group picture is taken first, while collars are straight and patience is intact. The looser pictures of the children come later, once the formality has worn off and nobody is performing.

What we offer
Family sessions on level ground near Northwood, chosen so a pram or a slower walker is never the problem.
The group picture is made first, while everyone is still fresh, then the children are left to be themselves.
Newborn sessions in your own warm room, timed around feeds rather than around a clock we bring with us.
Why choose us
Sessions are deliberately short, around forty five minutes of photography with pauses built into it. We follow the children instead of posing them, and we finish when their attention has gone rather than pushing on to fill a booked hour.
You receive a retouched gallery, colour and monochrome, sized for prints and for sending to relatives who could not be there. Because you are local, a session that ended early can be finished on another day, and here that is normal rather than a favour.

Good to know
Yes, and usually at your home rather than ours, because a very new baby should not be moved and the room needs to be properly warm. The first fortnight is easiest for the deeply asleep pictures, though there is no cut off. Being based in Northwood helps: the session runs to the baby, so a long feed simply takes as long as it takes.
We are already in Northwood, so there is no journey to build the day around and a session at your home is quick to arrange. With a toddler in the house that matters more than it sounds: the hour can be picked to suit a nap rather than a drive, and if the day goes badly we simply pick another one at no extra trouble to you.
Most family sessions last around an hour, though we never rush. With newborns and toddlers we allow extra time for feeds, naps and cuddles, so your little ones stay happy. The pace is always led by your children, not the clock. Landmarks we can work with near Northwood include Mount Vernon Hospital, a long established hospital and cancer centre in Northwood.
No trouble at all, simply let us know promptly. When you have young children in Northwood, off days and bugs are inevitable, and we would sooner reschedule than photograph a miserable little one. We will find you another date that fits your family nicely.
Our range covers fine prints, framed wall art, canvases and hand-finished albums, all created around your chosen images. After a Northwood session you receive an edited online gallery to browse at leisure, then pick the products that work for your family and your space.

Small children set the clock on a family session, and in Northwood that clock runs unusually kindly, because none of it is spent getting anywhere. A family living in the town can arrive on foot, and a session that comes apart twenty minutes in has not cost a morning and a set of fares. We pick it up on another day and nobody is out of pocket. That changes the planning. In other towns we compress and push on; here a two year old can be allowed to warm up at their own speed. Ground matters more than parents expect. Ruislip Woods is ancient woodland, which in practice means surface roots, deep leaf mould and paths that stay soft long into spring. It photographs beautifully and it is hard walking. A pram fights it the whole way, and any adult picking their footing carefully is looking down instead of at the camera. Where there is a buggy in the party, or grandparents coming along, the level residential roads and the green edges of the town give the same feel with none of the risk, and the reserve is better saved for a group that is all walking confidently. Indoors earns its keep through November and December, when the usable light has gone before the school run finishes. A warm room, no coats, nobody wrestling with a hood. A picture with three generations in it is also easier under a roof, because heights can be arranged rather than hunted for, and the smallest person in the frame is not balanced on a tree root.
