The short answer

Where can I book a Christmas photoshoot in Northwood?

Right here in Northwood: the studio is on The Broadway, 21 Joel St, HA6 1NU, in the row of shops beside Northwood Hills station. Christmas minis are short, guided family sittings that end with a handful of edited pictures, chosen for cards and presents. For Northwood families that means no long drive with children in party clothes: you can walk round, take the 282, 331 or H11 bus, or park close by. Dates are released as the season approaches, and the same short format runs for Diwali, Eid and Easter. Phone or WhatsApp 07956 505383 to hold a slot.

Kaushik Bathia has photographed our family on many occasions and done a fantastic job. His work is displayed all over our family homes and he has captured moments which will be cherished forever. He also managed to get great pictures of my two children (both under 5), a near enough impossible task in itself. We highly recommend!

Google review, 2017

We had a fun and relaxing family photoshoot. Kaushik managed to make us all at ease and smile, especially our 1 yr old son. He was very efficient, professional and friendly. We viewed the beautiful images promptly, without any pressurised selling. Can't wait to receive the photos. Thanks for the great photoshoot!

Had a wonderful experience at Kaushik Bathia photography. He was really patient with my kids , encouraging them to smile while always looking for the best angle to make the photos great.

On the day

A festive mini session close to home

Because the studio is local, a Northwood mini can fit around a school run or a Saturday morning. Arrive dressed, settle in for a minute, and we begin with the whole group before splitting into smaller pictures: the children together, each couple, perhaps grandparents with the youngest grandchild.

The set-ups change quickly and the direction is gentle, so a toddler who wanders off is simply brought back into the next frame. Inside, December weather and early darkness make no difference to the light.

Planning

Getting the cards out on time

If the picture is going on a card, work backwards from your last posting day. A session in the autumn half term or soon after leaves room to choose the image, order the cards and post them without a scramble. Let us know your deadline when you book and we will plan the edit around it.

Colours that sit together work better than identical outfits: two or three tones such as burgundy, bottle green and cream, with knitwear or velvet for texture. Keep big logos and novelty slogans for another day unless the jumper is the joke.

Other festivals

Diwali, Eid and Easter in Northwood

The mini format is not only for Christmas. Diwali sittings suit families in their festive clothes, with rich colour and gold detail, and can also be photographed at your Northwood home among your diyas and rangoli. Eid sessions are a natural time to gather the generations for one group portrait.

Spring minis run around the Easter holidays. A family that prefers outdoor light can ask about Northwood Recreation Ground on Chestnut Avenue; Hillingdon Council asks for permission through its Film Office before professional photos are taken in its parks, so allow time for that.

Around Northwood

The studio on your doorstep

The studio sits on the Joel Street shopping parade that the builder Harry Neal put up beside Northwood Hills station, with the Metroland mural on the station bridge a few steps away. From the older end of Northwood, Northwood station is one stop north on the Metropolitan line; from Northwood Hills itself it is a short walk.

Buses 282, 331 and H11 run through Northwood and Northwood Hills, and there is parking close to the parade for anyone bringing grandparents, a buggy or a bag of spare outfits. Most local families are here in a few minutes, which suits a 20 to 30 minute session very well.
