We meter skin and pull the green out later at the desk, instead of fighting it under the trees. Paths there are unmade, so warn whoever carries the outfit: hems meet leaf litter, and heels do not help.

Indoor fire, in an afternoon at its brightest, is the hard problem here, and the flame itself causes none of it. The fire sits low, close to the floor, beneath a roof of cloth that stops light coming down and tints whatever gets through. We spend most of the ceremony on one knee, close enough that the priest's hands and yours share a frame, and we let the havan stay warm rather than neutralising it into orange soup.
The varmala takes seconds. Focus goes on the space you are about to fill, and we work from whichever side holds both faces, because that exchange will not occur twice. Circling brings the reverse difficulty: nothing hurries, yet one camera position turns each lap into a duplicate of the last. Angle, height and focal length therefore shift on every circuit, one of them shot from the floor, looking up past the poles.
