Moor Park Mansion is the closest grand wedding venue to our Northwood studio. Road routing puts it at roughly 2.1 miles and about 8 minutes from the HA6 postcode district, measured from the district rather than door to door. We cover weddings here and would be glad to photograph yours.

Settle one thing early. Ceremonies here must be indoors. The venue's own FAQ says it cannot host ceremonies outside, though you get use of some external areas for photographs. It is licensed for civil ceremonies, and the day can run inside.

Why Moor Park does not allow outdoor ceremonies

The ceremony happens inside the Mansion. The venue's FAQ: “No, unfortunately we can't host ceremonies outside. You will, however, have use of some of our external areas for your wedding photos.” Plan the ceremony, and the mandap if you are having one, for an interior room.

Catering is the big unknown. The enquiry form offers Full Package, Dry Hire and Civil Wedding, but nothing published says whether Dry Hire allows an outside caterer. For an Asian wedding, ask that first, and in writing.
Mandaps are covered by the venue's own preferred-supplier list, which names The Flower Shack — “personalised, bespoke Mandaps, Wedding and Event Decor” — and Vivah Arts. The venue publishes no mandap policy itself, so confirm size and fixings.
Havan or agni: nothing is published either way. These are Grade I listed interiors, where open flame is commonly restricted. Do not assume in either direction. Ask.
Also unpublished: baraat space and route, dhol, horses, corkage. The 2019 brochure (six years old) says the bar runs until 1.00am; a current example timeline shows carriages at midnight.

Ceilings by Verrio and Cipriani, and where to look up

Planning notes taken only from what the venue publishes.

The painted ceilings set the tone. Verrio painted the Thornhill Room ceiling in 1684–5, and the Main Hall and Gallery carry an 18th-century Cipriani ceiling that gives the illusion of a dome; the venue tells visitors to look up on entering. Such rooms want exposure held for the room, and frames wide enough to keep the ceiling in.
Whether flash, tripods or drones are restricted near those ceilings is not published. We would ask first.
The 2019 brochure names the Main Hall, Thornhill Room and Grand Staircase for photographs. The staircase suits big family groups, so check it is still offered.
No outdoor ceremony, so all ceremony coverage is interior.
External areas are available for portraits, in over 300 acres of parkland. Whether we can go onto the golf course is not published.
The Manor Suite gives daylight for prep, from 07:30 on an example timeline. No bedrooms on site, so tell us the hotel: morning coverage may start there.
The wedding spaces sit across the first and second floors of a Grade I listed building. Step-free access, lifts and accessible WCs are not published, which affects where group photographs go.

A Grade I Palladian mansion where Arnhem was planned

The Mansion is a Grade I listed Palladian house, National Heritage List entry 1173698, and the park is separately registered Grade II* under entry 1000251. Verrio painted the Thornhill Room ceiling in 1684–5, and the 18th-century Cipriani ceiling over the Main Hall reads as a dome. From 1944 to 1945 the house was headquarters of the 1st Airborne Corps, and the venue states the Battle of Arnhem was planned here, in what is now the Arnhem Room. The golf club opened in 1923; Rickmansworth Urban District Council bought the Mansion and land in 1937 to stop it being developed, and the club bought the freehold in 1994.

Moor Park Underground on the Metropolitan line is the nearest station, “just a short distance from the Club” in the venue's words.

Can you hold an outdoor ceremony at Moor Park?

No. The venue's own FAQ states that outdoor ceremonies are not permitted. The external areas are available for photographs only, which is unusual for a 300-acre parkland estate and is the first thing to plan around.

What is the capacity at Moor Park?

The Main Dining Room seats 132 and the Main Hall holds 200 standing. It is a smaller venue than the banqueting halls in this set.

Are there bedrooms at Moor Park?

No. There are no bedrooms on site, so accommodation has to be arranged nearby.

Does Moor Park accept Asian weddings?

Yes. Its own preferred-supplier list names a bespoke mandap supplier and an Asian wedding photographer, so Asian weddings are clearly accepted. Whether a havan is permitted inside a Grade I listed interior is not published, and we would not assume either way.
