The short answer

Is there a mobile baby photographer in Buckinghamshire?

Yes. Kaushik is a mobile newborn photographer who brings lights, backdrops and wraps to your home anywhere in Buckinghamshire, so the baby stays in familiar surroundings. The best time is the first 5 to 14 days, when newborns sleep deeply. Parents in Denham, Gerrards Cross and the Chalfonts can also visit the Northwood studio. Newborn prices are given by phone or WhatsApp, and your written quote shows the travel from Northwood to your Bucks home.

Our usual session area is within about 20 miles of the studio. Further out in Buckinghamshire, sessions are by arrangement, with travel quoted in writing before you book.

We’re so glad we chose Kaushik as our photographer for maternity shoot —he was absolutely fantastic. On the day, he made us feel completely at ease, and the photos turned out superb. He was incredibly accommodating with all our requests and his attentiveness and personable nature were exactly what we hoped for in a photographer. Thank you, Kaushik!

Me and my heavily pregnant Fiancee visited here as a birthday gift from a friend of hers and had a LOVELY experience, Kaushik made us feel VERY welcomed and comfortable and we also had a good laugh. He was also very clear and precise with his instruction with regards to posing so we could get the best picture. Overall a very nice experience and would recommend.

I would HIGHLY recommend Northwood Hills Studios to anyone who wants to do family photos or special occasion photos.

Timing

Why the first 5 to 14 days matter for newborn photos

In the first two weeks most newborns sleep deeply and curl naturally, which makes the gentle, settled poses possible. After that they wake more easily and stretch out. We pencil in a date before the due date, then confirm once the baby arrives, so a late or early arrival is not a problem.

If the first fortnight passes because of a hospital stay or a difficult birth, the session can still happen. Older babies are photographed awake, with more expression and fewer curled poses. Message on WhatsApp from the hospital or once you are home, and we will find a date that suits your recovery.

At home

What a mobile newborn session in your Bucks home looks like

Kaushik arrives with portable lights, a backdrop stand, wraps and blankets, and sets up in the room with the most space, often near a window. Setting up takes about twenty minutes. The session then runs at the baby's pace, usually two to three hours, with breaks for feeds and nappy changes whenever needed.

Staying at home means no car seat, no packing a changing bag and no unfamiliar room for a baby who is only days old. It also means you can rest on the sofa while the baby sleeps on the beanbag. Baby photography explains the session in more detail.

Safety and warmth

Keeping a newborn safe and warm throughout

Safety comes before any pose. The baby is always supported, never balanced on props, and a hand is always close by. If the baby resists a position, we move on to a different one.

We ask you to warm the room to about 24 to 26 degrees before Kaushik arrives, as newborns lose heat quickly when undressed. Wear something cool yourself. Washed hands, clean wraps for each family and a calm, quiet room make up the rest of the routine.

Siblings and family

Siblings, parents and grandparents in the newborn photos

Older brothers and sisters are photographed first, while they still have patience, usually with the baby lying safely beside them or held with a parent's hand underneath. Toddlers can then go off to play while the baby sleeps. A few frames of parents holding the baby, and of tiny hands and feet, round out the gallery.

Grandparents are welcome if they live nearby, and a three-generation picture is easy to add. Tell us who will be there when you book, so we leave time for each group. For families who want more photos later, family photography in Buckinghamshire covers sessions in a park or at home.

Studio and distance

The Northwood studio by car or Metropolitan line

The studio is at 21 Joel Street, Northwood Hills, two minutes from Northwood Hills station. Denham is about 4 miles away, Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter about 6 and Chalfont St Giles about 7. Amersham, Chesham and Chalfont & Latimer are on the Metropolitan line, the same line that serves Northwood Hills, although with a newborn most parents prefer to drive.

For families in High Wycombe, Marlow, Aylesbury or Milton Keynes, the home visit is usually easier than a long drive with a new baby. Kaushik travels from Northwood to anywhere in the county, and travel from Northwood is quoted up front and set out in writing before you book. See the Buckinghamshire photographer page for all services.

Follow-ons

Maternity before and a cake smash at one

You can book a maternity session in Buckinghamshire at about 28 to 34 weeks and the newborn session at the same time, so the date in the first fortnight is already held. The maternity images and the newborn images then sit together as a set.

Around the first birthday, a cake smash photoshoot in the Northwood studio is a cheerful follow-on: your cake, our backdrop and props, and a lot of mess. It is a good way to mark how much the baby has changed since those first sleepy days.

Planning

Planning around Buckinghamshire

01

Pencil a date before birth

Book during pregnancy and confirm once the baby arrives, so the session falls in the first 5 to 14 days.

02

Warm the room

Heat the room to about 24 to 26 degrees before the session, because an undressed newborn cools quickly.

03

Plan for feeds

Sessions run two to three hours because feeding and settling come first, never the schedule.

04

Siblings go first

Older children are photographed early, while their patience lasts, then can go off to play.
