Bekonscot was established in 1929 and is the oldest original model village in the world, and it is worth understanding what a model village does to a photograph. The whole thing is built low, at roughly knee height, so a camera held where an adult's eyes are looks down on everything and everybody. The pictures that work are made from the child's own height, where face and model share a plane and the thing being looked at is visible in the same frame. Adults belong crouched or seated in those, rather than standing over the scene. Sequence counts as well. A sitting goes before a day out and not after one, because a child who has already been round a model village on foot has spent the very part of the day you wanted kept. Hodgemoor Woods is the other option, and it carries one limit that decides the plan. A closed canopy holds very little light, which pushes the shutter slow, and a child at full speed turns to blur.
