For Beaconsfield

Newborn and family photography in Beaconsfield

Nothing runs to a fixed order here beyond the attention actually available in the room. Everybody together comes first, while collars still sit straight and no one has yet been told to smile, and the unposed pictures arrive once the performing has worn off.

The gallery keeps the frames with someone facing the wrong way; grandparents ask for exactly those, more often than not. Prints and albums get arranged later, in their own time, and nothing at all is discarded on the day itself.

Twenty-five years behind the lens

Experience that shows in Beaconsfield

We photograph the connection between you, the cuddles, the giggles and the quiet moments, rather than lining everyone up to smile. We keep the studio warm and calm for newborns, working gently around feeds, naps and cuddles.

Prints, canvases, framed wall art and albums are designed around your favourite portraits from the session. Your gallery arrives beautifully edited, and you can choose prints, frames, canvases or a hand-finished album.

Good to know

Family Photographer in Beaconsfield, FAQs

You can choose from fine prints, framed wall art, canvases and hand-finished albums, all designed around your favourite images. After your session you view an edited gallery online, then pick the products that suit your home and your family. Beaconsfield and neighbouring Penn, Seer Green and Knotty Green are all covered.

Both. Outdoors suits a child who is on their feet and keen to run about; the studio suits babies, dark afternoons, and anyone happier away from an audience. If you cannot decide, hold the outdoor date and keep the studio in reserve, then choose on the morning, when a forecast is finally worth reading. Switching between them is a phone call.

Yes, out from Northwood, covering Beaconsfield together with Penn, Seer Green and Knotty Green. Send the postcode of wherever we are meeting and a line about parking. A session that opens with a circuit of a full car park has already eaten the best hour of a toddler's morning, so we arrive early and have it all standing before you pull up.

Yes. Nominate one person to round everybody up, ideally not the photographer. A rough head count in advance tells us which lens to bring and, indoors, how much light is wanted to reach the people at the back. The big group goes first, before anybody drifts outside or disappears upstairs, with the smaller combinations following on afterwards while everybody remains in one place.

Yes, and those frames go first, while there is still patience to spare. Say the word and a chair comes with us, or bring one you like the look of. A grandparent seated with the children gathered round photographs better than a line of adults standing shoulder to shoulder anyway. If being outside is ruled out, everybody fits into one warm room at the studio.

Serving Beaconsfield

A family photographer near Beaconsfield

Beaconsfield is an affluent Buckinghamshire town with a historic old town, in Buckinghamshire. It sits close to Gerrards Cross and Amersham, which we cover too. From our Northwood base we reach Beaconsfield easily, whether you prefer a studio sitting or family photography on location.

Beaconsfield is an affluent Buckinghamshire town split between a historic Old Town and a newer district that grew up around the railway station. Beaconsfield station lies on the Chiltern Main Line towards London Marylebone, with the M40 close by at junction 2. For relaxed outdoor photographs around Beaconsfield, we like Hodgemoor Woods, and Bekonscot Model Village is a well-known local backdrop.

Bekonscot has been open since 1929 and is the oldest original model village anywhere, and it is worth understanding what that does to a photograph. The whole thing is built low, at roughly knee height, so a camera held where an adult's eyes are looks down on everything and everybody. The pictures that work are made from the child's own height, where face and model share a plane and the thing being looked at is visible in the same frame. Adults belong crouched or seated in those, rather than standing over the scene. Sequence counts as well. A sitting goes before a day out and not after one, because a child who has already been round a model village on foot has spent the very part of the day you wanted kept. Hodgemoor Woods is the other option, and it carries one limit that decides the plan. A closed canopy holds very little light, which pushes the shutter slow, and a child at full speed turns to blur. Charging about belongs in the glades, where there is enough light to freeze it, while the quieter frames, somebody being carried or stopping to look at something, are fine in among the trees. For a baby whose day still runs on feeds and changes, the studio at Northwood removes the weather from the decision altogether, and indoors nothing about the forecast reaches you, which is the point of it.
