Position is cleared with whoever runs the building rather than chosen on instinct, and cleared beforehand, because a hall filling with sangat is no place to open a negotiation. The laavan are read and then walked, and what deserves the frame is the sangat watching, not four near-identical passes by the same two people.

Milni runs outdoors in whatever Buckinghamshire supplies that morning and moves one embrace at a time, so we work it obliquely instead of face on. The palla ties two people together for everything that follows. Langar is served low and photographed low. Jago and the mehndi evening are loud, coloured and late, and want different glass entirely from anything the hall needed. Nobody directs a doli. It finishes the day at whatever pace the family sets.
