The short answer

Your wedding photographer in Woking, at a glance

For couples marrying in Woking, Kaushik Bathia offers award winning wedding photography, with more than twenty five years of experience and over a thousand weddings behind the camera. Our approach is calm and observant; we anticipate the moments a beat before they happen, which is how the honest ones end up beautifully framed. Church, civil, country house, barn, marquee or hotel, and every faith, culture and fusion celebration, we are equally at home photographing them all in Woking. We back up every set of images in more than one place as soon as the day is done, so your photographs are safe long before your album is made. A second photographer, relaxed engagement shoots and hand finished fine art albums are all available, and we travel across Surrey and the wider UK so distance is never a problem.

Serving Woking

Pictures that hold the mood of a Woking wedding

Woking is a Surrey town. Whether the ceremony is in a church, a register office or a licensed garden, and the reception in a barn or a banqueting hall, we know these venue types well throughout Surrey and around Guildford, Weybridge and Byfleet. When two traditions come together in one ceremony, we photograph each part with equal warmth so the finished set honours both sides of your family.

Small, telling details matter to us as much as the big set pieces, so we photograph the handwritten notes, the borrowed jewellery and the quiet glances between courses. We shoot loosely and instinctively, following the energy of the room, so the collection you receive moves at the same pace the day actually did. You will barely notice us for much of the day, and that is the point; the less we intrude, the more relaxed everyone stays in front of the lens.

Woking is a place we return to often for weddings. As a Surrey town, it offers plenty of character, and we photograph couples here as well as across nearby Staines-upon-Thames and Egham. We are at home at Woking-area venues such as Gorse Hill and Bisley Pavilion.

Woking is a diverse Surrey town and home to the Shah Jahan Mosque, the first purpose-built mosque in the United Kingdom, opened in 1889. Woking railway station is a principal commuter stop on the South West Main Line, managed by South Western Railway. We often take couples to Horsell Common near Woking for a few quiet portraits, and Shah Jahan Mosque on Oriental Road is a lovely backdrop nearby.

Every kind of wedding

Two-day festivities? We are ready for those too

However your ceremony unfolds, in a chapel, a barn or a hotel garden room, we stay quietly at the edges and let the words and the looks between you speak for themselves. We understand how quickly a ceremony passes, so we prepare thoroughly beforehand and then let the day carry us, catching the vows as they land. We time our movements to yours, staying still through the readings and the promises, then finding the right spot for the first kiss as a married couple.

From the first arrivals to the send off, we photograph the reception as one continuous celebration rather than a series of items to tick off a list. Portraits with your family and closest friends matter, and we make time for them without letting the schedule stall or the day lose its momentum. Speeches bring the biggest reactions of the day, so we watch both the speaker and the room, catching the joy, the tears and the applause.

The whole celebration

The whole story of your day in Woking

If you would like a first look before the ceremony, we find a quiet spot for it and photograph that private moment without an audience. We build the timeline around the light as well as the schedule, so portraits and early moments fall when the day looks its most flattering.

The best record of a wedding carries you through it hour by hour, and that is what we aim for, from the early stillness to the last song of the night. A good record of the day has a shape to it, a beginning, a middle and an end, and we build that arc rather than collecting a pile of loose pictures.

Why choose us

Why couples in Woking choose us

We have handled enough weddings to stay unflustered when a plan changes at short notice, keeping the mood light while we quietly work around it. Having built the business on word of mouth since 2001, we take reliability seriously; being on time, dressed appropriately and ready is simply how we work.

You should never have to think about how we get there; reaching venues throughout Surrey is something we quietly take care of. Because we have photographed in so many corners of Surrey, we usually know the venue, the light and the parking before we even set off for Guildford, Weybridge and Byfleet.

Good to know

Wedding photography in Woking, frequently asked questions

We design the first draft for you, choosing and sequencing images so the album flows as a story rather than a random set of photos. You then review the proof and request changes until it feels right. Nothing is printed until you have approved the final design, so you stay in control of the outcome.

You receive a private online gallery of high-resolution images, which you can view, download and share with family and friends from any device. The gallery includes full-size files suitable for printing. We keep a backup for a set period after delivery, so nothing is lost if you misplace your copies.

You will usually see a small preview within a week or so, and your full online gallery follows a few weeks after the wedding, depending on the time of year. Every image is edited by hand, which takes a little time, but we know you are eager to relive the day and we never leave you waiting unduly.

Once you are happy to go ahead, we hold your date with a signed agreement and a booking fee. Until both are in place we cannot promise the date will still be free, as we take a limited number of weddings each year. We would always encourage you to get in touch early to avoid disappointment.

We keep the group photographs relaxed and efficient, so you are not left standing about for ages. It helps if you send us a short list of the combinations you would like beforehand, and if you nominate a friend or usher who knows everyone by name. We will gather people gently and have this part done quickly.

Wherever possible we aim for softer light in the later afternoon, often around golden hour, which flatters skin and adds warmth. We only need fifteen to twenty minutes, and we can split it into two short sessions. We will suggest the best slot once we see your timings and the season.

Yes, we ask for a booking fee when you confirm, which reserves your date in our diary and comes off your total balance. The remaining amount is then due a few weeks before the wedding. We will set everything out clearly in writing, so you always know exactly where you stand.
