Really professional. Kaushik captured some amazing pictures for my graduation with my family.

Karissa, Google review, 2021

…On the day, he was there on time and took lots of photographs of all close families and friends, as and when requested and also walking around the venue at different times. The photo taken were ready within the week. The quality in terms of focus, brightness and clarity was amazing. Kaushik knew how to get all party guests to smile in group photos and also capture those natural moments. Great job!

Christenings

Christenings in Essex churches

A christening has a short, important centre, so it pays to plan. Talk to the vicar or priest beforehand about where the photographer may stand and whether flash is allowed during the service; many churches prefer none at all. Kaushik works with available light inside and saves group photographs for after the service, at the font or outside the door, when everyone can relax.

Essex churches range widely. St Mary's Church in Chigwell dates from the 12th century, Chelmsford Cathedral was begun around 1200 and became a cathedral in 1914, Brentwood Cathedral was rebuilt in an Italianate classical style and dedicated in 1991, and St Martin's Church in Basildon is a modern building consecrated in 1962. Each has its own light and its own rules. See christening photography for how the day is covered.

Family parties

Birthdays, anniversaries and family celebrations

A family party is about people, not poses. Kaushik moves round the room, catching grandparents meeting the newest baby, the cake coming out and the speeches that make everyone laugh. A short list of must-have groups, given to us before the day, means nobody important is missed, and someone from the family who knows the guests can point out who is who.

Community halls are part of Essex life. Loughton's Lopping Hall was built by the Corporation of London as a public hall and opened in 1884, in return for the lopping rights that residents lost when the forest was protected. Whatever the setting, from a hall to a restaurant or your own garden, the session price is given by phone or WhatsApp and the travel from Northwood is set out in writing.

Cultural celebrations

Diwali, Eid, mehndi nights and community events

Your family may celebrate across several traditions, and an evening event needs a photographer who is comfortable with low light, colour and movement. A mehndi night, a Diwali gathering, an Eid party or a milestone birthday with a dhol player all reward a plan for the key moments: the arrival, the performances, the food and the family groups.

Larger community events need a little more preparation. Billericay's Lake Meadows, a 40-acre park on the west side of the town, hosts the Billericay Fireworks display, the kind of public occasion where a photographer needs to agree access with the organisers in advance. Tell us about the event, and Kaushik will talk through the timings and any restrictions on the phone.

Corporate

Company events, launches and awards

For a business, event photographs have a job to do afterwards: a news story, social media, an annual report or next year's invitation. Kaushik covers arrivals, speakers, awards, networking and the branding in the room, and can set up a simple portrait corner for guests if you want headshots on the night as well. A run sheet with times and names makes the coverage far more useful.

Essex events happen everywhere from the county town to the coast. Chelmsford, a city since 2012 and the home of County Hall, is about 39 miles from the studio; Southend-on-Sea, a city since 2022, is about 48. For staff portraits on a quieter day, the Essex headshots page explains office headshot sessions, and event photography covers how coverage is priced.

Distance

Planning an evening event from Northwood

Evening events need extra thought when the venue is a long way from the studio. The western towns of Loughton, Chigwell and Epping are 20 to 23 miles from Northwood Hills; Brentwood, Billericay and Basildon are 31 to 37; Colchester is about 57. Kaushik plans arrival time with a margin for traffic, so the first photographs are taken before your guests sit down.

Travel from Northwood is quoted up front and set out in writing before you book, together with the hours of coverage you choose. For a family celebration with a newborn or young children, the Essex family photography page explains the come-to-you sessions that can sit alongside an event, and the Essex overview lists every service.

Planning

Planning around Essex

01

Speak to the church first

Ask the vicar or priest where the photographer can stand and whether flash is allowed. Many churches prefer none during the service itself.

02

Send a list of key groups

A short list of family groups and guests not to miss keeps the day calm and makes sure nobody important is left out.

03

Share the run sheet

For a corporate event, times for speeches, awards and the main toasts let Kaushik be in the right place without interrupting.

04

Agree access at public events

At a large public occasion, such as a park display, agree photography access with the organisers well before the day.
