We used Kaushik for my wife’s 50th and the service and quality of work was amazing. Really happy to recommend him.

Deepan K., Google review, 2022

…He took many photos of my daughter’s engagement party in a quite dimly lit pub attended by quite a large crowd. He made sure that he kept himself unobtrusively and made sure he included everyone who attended in the photos. All the photos were well focussed and both the formal groups and informal pictures were so natural looking and excellent quality. We had a hard time trying to choose from all of them.

Dhushan S., Google review, 2025

Great service and fantastic photos taken of myself and family. We were given a very warm welcome by Kaushik and I feel that was also reflected in the photos he took. So very pleased with the photos and would highly recommend Kaushik.

What we cover

Kent celebrations, large and small

Events in Kent range from a fortieth in a Sevenoaks garden to a three-generation anniversary meal in Maidstone or a company awards night near Ashford. What they share is a short list of moments that must not be missed: the cake, the toast, the grandparents arriving, the group photograph before people start to leave. We build the plan around those.

Coverage is booked by the hour. For a party, two to three hours usually catches the arrivals, the key moments and plenty of natural pictures of guests. For a religious celebration with a ceremony and a meal, we look at the timings together and book enough to cover both. Our national event photography page sets out the general approach.

Kaushik works discreetly. Most guests stop noticing the camera after the first half hour, and that is when the honest pictures appear: an uncle telling a story, children under the table, a grandmother laughing at the speeches.

Christenings

Christenings and church services in Kent

Kent is home to some of the oldest church buildings in England. St Martin's Church in Canterbury, where Queen Bertha worshipped before St Augustine's mission of 597, is the oldest English church building still in use for worship. Rochester Cathedral has been a place of Christian worship since AD 604, and All Saints' Church in Maidstone was built in 1395.

Whatever the church, photography during a christening is decided by the minister or parish, and rules differ. Some allow discreet photographs throughout; others ask for none during the baptism itself and then allow a few posed frames at the font afterwards. We ask you to check with the church, and we work within whatever they say.

After the service, the family photographs outside the church and the gathering at home or a hall are just as important. See christening photography for how that day usually runs, from the church door to the cake.

Community

Religious and community celebrations

Kent has strong faith communities, and a lot of family events centre on them. In Gravesend, Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara opened in November 2010 with three prayer halls and two langar halls, and the gurdwara estimates about 15,000 Sikhs live in the area, more than one in seven people in Gravesham. Sikh family occasions, whether at home or at a gurdwara, can include an Akhand Path, a birthday or an anniversary followed by a meal.

Guru Nanak Darbar publishes a code of conduct for photographers at the Anand Karaj, and it is sensible to ask the gurdwara about any rules for other occasions too. Inside any gurdwara, Kaushik covers his head and removes his shoes, and keeps a respectful distance during prayers.

The same care applies to Hindu, Muslim and other religious celebrations held at home, in a temple, a mosque or a hired hall. Tell us what will happen and when, and we will make sure the important moments are covered without getting in the way.

Corporate

Company events, launches and awards

For businesses, event photographs need to work afterwards: on the website, in a press release, on LinkedIn and in next year's sponsorship pack. That means good pictures of speakers, sponsors' logos, the room filling up and guests talking, plus any group or award shots on a clear list.

Kent's business life is spread across Maidstone, the county town, the Medway towns, Dartford and the Bluewater area, and east Kent around Ashford and Canterbury. Wherever your event takes place, send the running order and any must-have shots in advance. For staff portraits on the same day, the Kent headshots page explains how a set-up in a side room works.

Local calendar

Festivals, timings and travel into Kent

Kent towns have their own calendars to plan around. Rochester holds two Dickens Festivals a year, in June and December, and since 1980 has revived the Jack-in-the-Green May Day sweeps tradition, so the old town can be busy on those weekends. If your event is close to one, allow extra time for arrivals and parking.

Travel from Northwood is set out in your written quote, so the full price is clear before you book. Dartford is about 30 miles from the studio and Canterbury about 68. For an evening event far into east Kent, we agree finishing times carefully so the coverage ends where you need it to.

Planning

Planning around Kent

01

List the must-haves

Write down the five or six moments you would hate to miss, such as the cake, the toast and the full family group, and we plan around them.

02

Ask the church first

Each Kent parish sets its own rules on photography during a christening, so check with the minister before the day.

03

Respect the gurdwara code

Guru Nanak Darbar in Gravesend publishes a photography code for the Anand Karaj, so ask about rules for other events there too.

04

Check the festival dates

Rochester's Dickens Festivals in June and December and the May Day sweeps can make the old town busy, which affects arrival times.

05

Hours and travel in writing

Coverage is booked by the hour, and the travel from Northwood to your Kent venue appears in the written quote.
