The short answer
Kaushik Bathia is an award winning wedding photographer based in London, photographing weddings in Ashford and throughout Kent for over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations. We photograph the connections between people, the parent watching from the side and the friends in fits of laughter, because those are the frames you return to. Whatever your wedding looks like in Ashford, a church service, a register office, a country house, a barn or a hotel, and whatever your traditions, we photograph the whole day as it happens. Having built the business on word of mouth since 2001, we take reliability seriously; being on time, dressed appropriately and ready is simply how we work. Engagement shoots, a second photographer for busier days and beautiful fine art albums are all part of what we offer, and we travel throughout Kent and the rest of the UK for your wedding.
Serving Ashford
Ashford is a Kent town with country-house venues. Our couples marry in village churches, converted barns, marquees and elegant hotels right across Kent, and we know many of the venues around Tenterden, Charing and Hythe well. Whether you marry in a church, a register office or under a canopy in a country garden, we photograph the vows discreetly and with real respect for the setting.
For family groups we keep instructions light and the mood friendly, getting everyone through quickly so the formal part never turns into a chore. Most of the day we work quietly from the edges, watching for the small moments between the big ones and letting them unfold without any nudging from us. We treat every wedding as its own story, so nothing is forced into a formula and the pictures reflect your people, your setting and your mood.
The area around Ashford has become familiar territory for us. Ashford is a Kent town with country-house venues, and our coverage carries on into nearby Gravesend and Dartford without missing a beat. Local wedding venues we know near Ashford include Eastwell Manor, Kennington Hall and The Secret Garden.
Ashford is a Kent market town that grew as a railway and market centre. Ashford International station is on the HS1 high speed line and the town is served by the M20 motorway. We often take couples to Victoria Park, a Green Flag park near the town centre, and the grounds of Godinton House for a few quiet portraits, and Godinton House and Gardens, and the restored Willesborough Windmill is a lovely backdrop nearby.

What we offer
We stay from the morning preparations through to the evening, so the whole story is there in one set.
Church, civil, humanist or multi-day celebrations, we photograph the customs that matter to your two families.
Your high-resolution images arrive in a private online gallery you can view, download and share with family and friends.
Every kind of wedding
We photograph the exchange of promises gently, whether that happens at an altar, before a registrar or beneath an arch of flowers, so the pictures feel like the moment itself. Whether the setting is a grand nave or a simple garden marquee, we work with the available light and the sightlines to record the ceremony honestly. We understand how quickly a ceremony passes, so we prepare thoroughly beforehand and then let the day carry us, catching the vows as they land.
From the first toast to the last song, we stay attentive through the evening, photographing the dancing, the laughter and the friends who linger late. The drinks reception is where the day loosens and the real laughter starts, so we move through the crowd and photograph the reunions and quiet chats as they happen. The first dance is yours alone for a moment, and we photograph it from the edges, letting the room and its faces frame you naturally.

The whole celebration
Starting with the first look or the getting ready gives the finished gallery a proper beginning, so the story opens where the day actually does. For weddings spread across more than one day, we plan the coverage in advance so each event, from the welcome dinner onwards, gets its proper place.
Our aim is a balanced record, roughly even weight on the ceremony, the meal, the speeches and the dancing, rather than one crowded chapter. We resist rushing, letting each part of the day have its own moment, so the story you keep is complete rather than a run of headline scenes.
Why choose us
We finish every wedding into hand made, fine-art albums, a craft we have refined over many years so your collection is something to pass on. After twenty-five years we have learned that reassurance matters as much as skill, so we keep communication clear and easy from your first enquiry onwards.
Because we have photographed in so many corners of Kent, we usually know the venue, the light and the parking before we even set off for Tenterden, Charing and Hythe. Whether your day stays close to Tenterden, Charing and Hythe or spreads across Kent, we plan the logistics so the coverage flows without gaps.

Where we travel
Rural lanes, tricky parking and out-of-the-way estates hold no fear for us; we have driven to weddings in every part of Kent. A second photographer can join us when travel or a split-venue day calls for it, so coverage across Tenterden, Charing and Hythe and Kent stays seamless.

Good to know
Yes. We photograph weddings right across Kent and the surrounding counties, and further afield throughout the UK. Wherever your ceremony and reception are, and whether they share a venue or sit miles apart, we plan the logistics with you in advance so the timeline holds and no coverage is lost travelling between them.
Many couples find it does. A relaxed pre-wedding session lets you get used to how we work and how you look in your photos, with no pressure and no audience. It also gives us images for save-the-dates or guest books. By your wedding day, being photographed feels natural rather than new.
We plan the family groups with you beforehand and agree a short, realistic list, so nobody stands around waiting. On the day we call names clearly and keep each set moving, usually finishing the formal shots within twenty to thirty minutes. That leaves you more time to enjoy your guests.
We think it does. After more than twenty-five years and over a thousand weddings, we read a room quickly, sense moments before they happen, and stay calm when the timings wander. That quiet experience means you can relax and be present, knowing the day is in safe and steady hands.
Absolutely. Our style is largely documentary, so we tell the story of your day as it naturally unfolds, without lots of stiff posing. We will still gather the handful of family groups you would like, then step back and let the day breathe. You should feel present at your own wedding, not managed through it.
Yes. We design fine-art albums using thick, lay-flat pages and archival printing, then send you a proof to review before anything goes to print. You can add matching parent copies at a smaller size. The album is optional, so you can book coverage alone and add one later if you prefer.
Most of the day is documentary, so we record things as they happen without staging them. The exception is a short set of group shots and a relaxed portrait session, where a little gentle direction helps. Even then we keep it natural, so the portraits still look like you rather than a stiff studio pose.
