Excellent photography services before and during our wedding. Really enjoyed him being our photographer and he did a great job with the pictures. Working with him on the albums post wedding has been fantastic, he takes time to understand our ideas and portrays them in his work. Brilliant personality and very professional.

We had a large family photoshoot to do which can always be tricky. Kaushik was absolutely fantastic with a myriad of toys and noises to get smiles out of the little ones (they are still talking about the mouse on a stick!). Kaushik took the various different combinations we wanted and positioned each one expertly.

Chris W., Google review, 2022

An amazing experience from start to finish. The photographer was professional, friendly, and made us feel completely at ease. The photos perfectly captured genuine moments between us and turned out even better than we expected. Highly recommend for couples looking for high-quality photography.

How we cover Kent

A Kent photographer based on the far side of London

Our studio is in Northwood Hills, on the north-west edge of London, and Kent lies on the opposite side of the capital. That makes every Kent booking a planned journey rather than a quick hop, and we would rather say so plainly than pretend otherwise. Even the closest Kent town, Dartford, is about 30 miles from the studio, and the far east of the county around Canterbury is nearer 68.

What that distance does not change is the service. Weddings are covered anywhere in Kent, and for portraits, families, newborns, headshots, pets and events Kaushik brings the camera and lighting to you. If you would rather come to us, the Northwood studio is two minutes from Northwood Hills station on the Metropolitan line, and you may find a studio session simpler than arranging a visit at home.

Whichever you choose, travel from Northwood is costed for your town and set out in writing before you book. Kaushik has been a professional photographer since 2001, holds five European Kodak Gold Awards, and is rated 4.8 from 580+ Google reviews.

The shape of the county

North-west Kent, the Medway towns, the Weald and the east

Kent is a large county, and it helps to think of it in parts. The north-west corner along the Thames, with Dartford and Gravesend, is the closest to us. Dartford is the main town of a borough that also takes in Greenhithe, Swanscombe, Ebbsfleet and Bluewater, and it sits beside the Dartford Crossing, the tunnels and Queen Elizabeth II Bridge that carry the A282 over the river to Thurrock.

West Kent runs south through Sevenoaks, about 35 miles from the studio, towards the Weald. Tonbridge, a market town on the River Medway, is about 41 miles away, and Royal Tunbridge Wells, close to the East Sussex border, about 52. Further along the Medway are Rochester and Gillingham, part of a conurbation with Chatham, Strood and Rainham, at around 42 to 44 miles.

Maidstone, the county town and the largest town in Kent, is about 46 miles from Northwood, with the River Medway running through its centre. East Kent is the longest trip: Ashford is about 62 miles away and the cathedral city of Canterbury about 68. All of these places are within our service area, and each one simply carries a different travel figure in its quote.

Sessions at home

How a come-to-you session works in Kent

For family, newborn, maternity and portrait sessions, Kaushik travels from Northwood to your home, your garden or an open space near you. Kent has no shortage of those: Mote Park in Maidstone covers 440 acres around its lake, Haysden Country Park on the western edge of Tonbridge mixes river, lakes and woodland, and Dartford Heath is one of the few lowland heaths left in the south-east.

Because the journey is a long one, we plan Kent sessions carefully. We agree a date and time that suits the light and your children's routine, confirm the address or meeting point, and put the travel cost in writing alongside the session price, which we give on request by phone or WhatsApp. On the day, Kaushik arrives with everything needed and you do not have to set anything up beyond clearing a little space.

If the distance makes a home visit awkward, the studio is a genuine alternative. It suits newborns in winter, headshots that need a plain background, and families who would like to combine the trip with a day out in London.

Maternity shoots in Kent

A maternity photoshoot is usually best between about 28 and 34 weeks, when the bump shows and moving is still comfortable. Here are the Kent towns we cover, with their distance by road from the Northwood studio, from Dartford in the north-west to Canterbury in the east.

Good to know

Photography in Kent: questions answered

The studio is in Northwood Hills, north-west London. Dartford is about 30 miles away, Sevenoaks and Gravesend about 35, Tonbridge about 41, Maidstone about 46, Tunbridge Wells about 52, Ashford about 62 and Canterbury about 68. We use these distances to work out a travel figure for your town, which goes into your written quote.

Yes, travel to Kent is charged, because every Kent town is at least 30 miles from Northwood. The cost depends on where you are and is quoted up front, in writing, before you book. For weddings it sits alongside the package price; for sessions it sits alongside the session price.

Yes. Many sessions work just as well at 21 Joel Street, Northwood Hills, which is two minutes from Northwood Hills station on the Metropolitan line. For Kent families it can be the simpler choice, particularly for newborns in winter or a quick set of headshots, and it removes the travel line from the quote.

Wedding photography starts from £750 and every package is shaped around your day, your hours of coverage and any extras such as a second photographer, an engagement shoot or a hand-finished album. Travel from Northwood to your Kent venue is added as a separate, written figure so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

For Kent sessions we give the price on request, by phone or WhatsApp on 07956 505383. We ask a couple of questions first, such as where in Kent you are, how many people will be in the photographs and whether you would like the session at home, outdoors or at the studio, then send the price and the travel in writing.

Yes. Bluewater, Ebbsfleet, Greenhithe and Swanscombe are all in the Borough of Dartford, the closest part of Kent to us. Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, Strood and Rainham in Medway are about 42 to 44 miles from the studio. Weddings and sessions are both available there, with travel quoted for each address.

Send the enquiry form on this page or call or WhatsApp 07956 505383 with your date, town and the type of photography you need. We reply with availability and a written quote that includes travel from Northwood. Once you are happy with everything in the quote, you can book the date.
