Pick a park near home
Mote Park, Haysden Country Park, Central Park in Dartford and Victoria Park in Ashford are all public spaces with paths and room for children to roam.

Kaushik Bathia travels from Northwood to photograph families at home and in parks across Kent, or welcomes you to the studio if that is easier. Prices are given on request, and the travel to your Kent town is set out in writing.
The short answer
A family photoshoot in Kent can take place at your home or garden, in a park near you, or at our studio in Northwood Hills. Good Kent open spaces include Mote Park in Maidstone, Haysden Country Park near Tonbridge, Central Park in Dartford, Dunorlan Park in Tunbridge Wells and Victoria Park in Ashford. Kaushik travels to you from Northwood, about 30 miles to Dartford and 68 to Canterbury, and the travel is quoted in writing before you book.
Our usual session area is within about 20 miles of the studio. Further out in Kent, sessions are by arrangement, with travel quoted in writing before you book.
I was nervous about how my 2 year old would react, but we had a great photo session! Kaushik had plenty of props to keep my son entertained, laughing, and happily posing.Afterward, he was incredibly patient as we went through every single photo to pick our favorites, even though we kept changing our minds. I highly recommend his service and will definitely be back once my second baby is born!
Amazing experience with Kaushik photography. Pictures came out very high quality. The studio is also very nice and family friendly. The photographer there took his time to capture very memorable detail and that meant a lot to my family and I. I’ll definitely recommend Kaushik Bathia
Kaushik Bathia has photographed our family on many occasions and done a fantastic job. His work is displayed all over our family homes and he has captured moments which will be cherished forever. He also managed to get great pictures of my two children (both under 5), a near enough impossible task in itself. We highly recommend!
Kent parks
Kent has a generous spread of public parks, and choosing one near home keeps the day easy for children. In Maidstone, Mote Park covers 440 acres around a lake of about 30 acres, formed by damming the River Len at the end of the eighteenth century. In Tunbridge Wells, Dunorlan Park has a 6-acre lake fed by the River Teise, and Calverley Grounds sits in the town centre opposite the station.
Closer to London, Central Park in Dartford has the River Darent running through it, flower beds, a wildflower meadow and orchard, and the Buccaneer Bay play park. Darenth Country Park has chalk grassland and a traditional orchard of more than 150 fruit and nut tree varieties. In Sevenoaks, The Vine has a weatherboarded cricket pavilion and a bandstand, and Knole Park next to the town has been a deer park since the fifteenth century.
Further east, Victoria Park in Ashford has the cast-iron Hubert Fountain and has won a Green Flag Award two years running. In Medway, Riverside Country Park has trails and a play area, and Gillingham Park has a winter garden and a sculpture trail. Tell us which park is nearest and we will suggest a route that keeps little ones busy.

At home
A session at home is often the most natural choice for Kent families, particularly with toddlers. Children relax in their own space, you have nappies and snacks to hand, and the photographs show the house you are raising them in. Kaushik brings portable lighting, so a living room with one good window is usually enough, and a garden adds variety if the weather allows.
We keep things loose rather than posed. A few relaxed group photographs come first, then children play, read, run round the garden or help in the kitchen while Kaushik photographs what happens. Most home sessions take around an hour, with time to settle in before the camera comes out.
Because Kaushik travels from Northwood, about 30 miles to Dartford and further for mid and east Kent, we fix the time and address in advance and write the travel into your quote alongside the session price.
Distance
We are honest about the journey. The studio is at 21 Joel Street, Northwood Hills, in north-west London, on the opposite side of the capital from Kent. Dartford, the nearest Kent town, is about 30 miles away, and Canterbury in the east is about 68.
Kaushik still comes to you across the whole county, and the cost of getting there is quoted up front and set out in writing before you book. If the travel line feels high for your part of Kent, the studio is a good alternative: it is two minutes from Northwood Hills station on the Metropolitan line, the lighting is ready, and the weather does not matter.
You could combine a studio visit with a day in London, or keep things simple with a session at home. Either way, the photographs are taken with the same care, and you will know the full cost before you commit.

Seasons and stages
Late spring and early autumn are lovely for outdoor sessions in Kent parks, with softer light and comfortable temperatures. Summer works well early in the morning or in the hour or two before sunset, when the light is warm and less harsh. In winter, a home or studio session is usually kinder to small children than a cold park.
Every stage is worth recording: a first birthday, a new sibling, children starting school, teenagers who now tower over their parents, or grandparents joining for a three-generation photograph. Older children often enjoy a park session more because they can explore, and babies are easiest at home between naps.
For clothes, choose two or three colours that sit well together and avoid big logos or busy patterns. Layers help outdoors, comfortable shoes help on grass and heath, and a spare outfit for younger children is always useful.
Booking
Call or WhatsApp 07956 505383, or send the form below with your town, the number of people and a few possible dates. Session prices are given on request, and we will send the price, the travel from Northwood and a suggested time in writing. For more about how sessions work, see family photography.
If you are expecting, a maternity photoshoot can come first, and our Kent newborn photography page explains sessions for new arrivals. For everything else we offer in the county, see the Kent photographer hub.

Planning
Mote Park, Haysden Country Park, Central Park in Dartford and Victoria Park in Ashford are all public spaces with paths and room for children to roam.
In Kent's summer months, book an early morning or the time before sunset. Midday sun makes children squint and shadows hard.
Some Kent parks ask for dogs on leads, such as Conningbrook Lakes near Ashford. Check the rules if your dog is joining the family photographs.
If the travel to your part of Kent adds up, a session at the Northwood studio removes that cost and gives you controlled light whatever the weather.

Most family sessions take about an hour, with time at the start for children to get used to Kaushik and the camera. Larger family groups or sessions that combine home and a nearby park can take longer, and we agree the timing in advance.
Yes. Three-generation photographs are a popular reason for booking, and pets are welcome. If you plan a park session with a dog, check the park's rules first, as some Kent spaces, including Conningbrook Lakes, ask for dogs to be kept on a lead.
We keep an eye on the forecast and agree a plan in advance. We can move indoors to your home, switch to the studio, or rearrange the date. Because the journey from Northwood is a long one, we decide early so nobody travels unnecessarily.
