The short answer
Kaushik Bathia is an award winning Asian wedding photographer based in London, photographing Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim and Tamil weddings in Croydon and throughout Greater London for over twenty five years and more than a thousand celebrations. We are at ease with large, multi-day celebrations and intimate ceremonies alike. Whether your wedding in Croydon is Hindu, Sikh, Gujarati, Muslim, Tamil or a fusion of traditions, we know the order of each faith's rituals and cover the whole celebration. We arrive with two camera bodies, spare lenses and duplicate memory cards, because a wedding gives you no second chance and we take that responsibility seriously. You can add a second photographer, a female photographer and hand finished albums, and we are glad to travel across Greater London and beyond, so wherever your celebration is held it is within reach.
Serving Croydon
Croydon is a large south London town with a diverse community and grand event venues. We know the venues of London and the surrounding area well, and move easily between the ceremony and reception across Thornton Heath, Purley and Norbury. From the kanyadaan to the saptapadi, or the first laav to the last, the ceremony tells its own story and we follow it.
For the vidaai we hold back and let the emotion be what it is, photographing the goodbyes gently rather than crowding a moment that belongs to the family. We photograph the small moments as carefully as the grand ones, the glances as well as the rituals. We are calm and unhurried, gathering the whole story without ever getting in the way.
Whether your celebration keeps to Croydon or spreads across Greater London, we plan the day around your venues. Croydon is a large south London town with a diverse community and grand event venues, and we know it well, as we do neighbouring Hayes and Rayners Lane. Local wedding venues we know near Croydon include Grand Sapphire, Addington Palace and Imperial Banqueting.
Croydon is a large town in south London with a diverse community and a major town centre. East Croydon station is a major rail hub and interchange with London Tramlink. When there is time for couple portraits, Lloyd Park, a large landscaped park served by its own tram stop is a favourite, and Fairfield Halls, a major arts, theatre and concert venue makes a memorable setting.

What we offer
The mehndi, haldi and sangeet, where the warmest, most natural moments often happen.
A sneak preview soon after the wedding, with your full gallery and album to follow.
As you circle the sacred fire, we photograph each round and the blessing that follows without ever crowding the mandap.
Every tradition
The kanyadaan, when a father places his daughter's hand in her husband's, is quiet and full of feeling, and we frame it without ever intruding. For Gujarati families we know the hastamelap and the four mangal pheras and photograph each as you keep it. The muhurat and muhurtham, the auspicious hours, set the pace of the ceremony, and we plan around them.
The farewell, when the bride leaves her family, is the most tender moment of many Asian weddings. The dhol and dancing of the baraat are pure joy, and we capture every bit of the energy. The reception is the joyful finale, with speeches, the first dance and the bhangra.

The whole celebration
There is a particular kind of joy in a haldi, all warmth and yellow and gentle teasing, and we photograph it the way it actually happens, unhurried and honest. The days before the wedding often hold the most relaxed, candid moments of the whole celebration.
Between the ceremony and the reception there is often a great deal of waiting, and we use that time well, gathering portraits and quiet family moments while the room resets. From the morning preparations to the final dance, we give every part of the day the same care.
Why choose us
We back up every image on the day as we shoot, carry spare equipment to each event, and have never once left a family without their photographs. Photographing Asian weddings for a quarter of a century has taught us the shape of each faith's day, so we anticipate every ritual rather than react to it.
From our London base, Croydon and the rest of Greater London are an easy, familiar journey. Reaching your temple, gurdwara, mosque, mehndi and reception is our concern, not yours, wherever across the region they happen to fall.

Where we travel
We would rather arrive early and wait than keep you waiting, so we allow generous time for the drive to and around Greater London. Multi-venue days are never an issue; we plan the route and the timings in advance.

Good to know
Very well. We recognise the key stages under the mandap, including the kanyadaan, the joining of hands, the pheras around the sacred fire and the sindoor. Because we anticipate these moments rather than react to them, your photographs feel calm and natural rather than staged.
We do. After twenty-five years across Hindu, Sikh, Muslim, Gujarati and Tamil weddings, the order of events in each tradition is second nature to us, which means we are always where we need to be for the moments that matter most.
Yes. Temples, gurdwaras and mosques are all familiar to us, as are mandaps, marquees and banqueting halls in and around Croydon. We work quietly around the priest, the granthi or the imam, often using a long lens, so the ceremony is never disturbed.
Yes. Every image we deliver is edited by hand for colour, tone and consistency across the days, and we retouch our selected portraits with a light, natural touch. We aim for photographs that look timeless rather than heavily processed, so they age well in your album.
Of course. Whether it is an intimate ceremony with close family or a celebration of several hundred guests, we tailor our coverage to your day and your traditions. Every wedding matters to us, and we bring the same care and attention whatever the size of the gathering.
As early as you comfortably can. Popular auspicious dates go quickly, and if your wedding is in Croydon on a busy weekend we would encourage you to enquire well ahead. Once your date is set, a booking secures it and lets us begin planning your coverage properly.
Always. We carry backup cameras, lenses and memory cards to every wedding, and we back up your images on the day as we go, so your photographs are safe. After twenty-five years and over a thousand weddings, being prepared for anything is second nature to us.
