Kenton is a diverse residential suburb straddling the boundary of the boroughs of Harrow and Brent. Kenton station on the Bakerloo line and London Overground Lioness line, with an interchange near Northwick Park on the Metropolitan line. We often take couples to Woodcock Park, a green open space in Kenton for a few quiet portraits, and Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple on Westfield Lane, a Hindu temple serving the area is a lovely backdrop nearby.

Capturing the Nikah and the Words Between Families

At a Muslim nikah we photograph the vows, the mehr and the joyful moment the couple are declared married. From the kanyadaan to the saptapadi, or the first laav to the last, the ceremony tells its own story and we follow it. We photograph the seven steps of the saptapadi and the couple's first steps as a married pair.

We photograph the milni, when the two families meet, with all of its warmth. The dhol player sets the pulse of the baraat, and we work close to the drum and the dancers so the picture carries the sound within it. The mehndi night, the sangeet and the haldi each carry their own mood, and we photograph them all.
