We move softly around the imam through the nikah, capturing the real moments rather than staging them. Kenton is a diverse residential suburb straddling the boundary of the boroughs of Harrow and Brent. Kenton station on the Bakerloo line and London Overground Lioness line, with an interchange near Northwick Park on the Metropolitan line. We often take couples to Woodcock Park, a green open space in Kenton for a few quiet portraits, and Shree Kutch Satsang Swaminarayan Temple on Westfield Lane, a Hindu temple serving the area is a lovely backdrop nearby.

The rukhsati, when the bride leaves with the groom, is the most tender moment, and we photograph it gently. A female photographer can cover the ladies' side of the nikah, so the women's moments are not lost. We work quietly around the imam so the nikah is never disturbed.

The mangni, the engagement that begins the journey, is one we are glad to cover when families ask. The reception and walima are the joyful finale, with speeches, family and dancing. From the henna of the mehndi to the music of the dholki, the events set the tone for the wedding.
