Always. Two working bodies rather than one and a spare, a duplicate lens across each focal range, extra flashes, more cards than the day can fill, and a second bag left in the car for the morning when the first one fails.

How do you approach a wedding held at a mandir or gurdwara?+

We turn up early, locate whoever holds responsibility for the building, and ask before assuming. Shoes, phones, position and lighting all follow the building's answer, not our preference. Inside, we stay at the edges and off the centre of the floor.

How well do you know Hindu ceremony customs like the pheras and mandap?+

Well enough to know that seven laps past one background will produce one photograph unless we keep moving, and that an overhead canopy takes away the angle most people reach for first. Planning gets built around the fastest moments.
