Livery hall weddings are among the most demanding interiors in the country. Merchant Taylors' Hall, Painters' Hall and Ironmongers' Hall are panelled, ornate and lit for dining rather than for photography, so a fast lens and restrained, well controlled light are the difference between a record and a picture. The Ned offers a different register again. Outside, St Paul's Cathedral, designed by Sir Christopher Wren, dominates every wide frame, and Postman's Park, a quiet green space nearby with mature trees and benches, is the reliable answer when a couple need five minutes away from traffic. Bank and Liverpool Street stations put guests within walking distance, with the Central, Northern, Circle and Elizabeth lines all running through the Square Mile. Clerkenwell, Farringdon and the Barbican are close if a different backdrop is wanted.

The legally required section is over quickly. Declarations, vows, one signature, finished. The registrar holds authority there, not you and not us, including whether cameras may be lifted while words are spoken. Offices differ on that point. Put the question to yours, then send us what they say, since our standing position through the unrepeatable part depends entirely on it.

A church sets a different problem: a long nave, a dark chancel, and no scope to move once things have started, so the position you take at the beginning is the position you keep. Groups get underestimated. A receiving line does the work of twenty posed photographs in a sliver of the time, so keep it even where it feels stiff. Through the speeches we sit behind the tables and watch listeners; the speaker is the dullest face available. By the first dance somebody has darkened the room, which makes it a lighting problem, not a scheduling one.

Do you edit in black and white as well as colour?+

Yes, and the decision belongs to the individual frame. Where colour is carrying meaning, a dress, a flower, a flush, it stays. Where colour is only noise from mixed lighting, monochrome tells the truth better. You receive whichever version works.

What happens if the day runs late and we need you to stay longer?+

Say so and we stay. Extra hours get agreed with whoever is paying before they begin, never after the fact, and adding an hour beats walking out midway through the stretch of the evening you will most want.

Can we have the raw or unedited files?+

No, and the reason is honest rather than commercial. An unprocessed file is a set of instructions, not a photograph, and handing it over means our name sits on a picture we did not finish. The finished files are yours entirely.

Do you provide a written contract?+

Yes. A signed agreement comes before money changes hands. Hours, coverage, delivery, cancellation by either party, and the question of who owns copyright are all written into it. Anything in there that reads oddly is worth querying.
