Serving Islington

The story of your Islington wedding

Islington is a fashionable inner north London borough. From the gurdwara to the reception, we keep the day flowing across venues throughout Camden, Hackney. Whether your Anand Karaj is in Islington itself or elsewhere across Greater London, we plan the day around your venues.

We make sure the families are in the story too, from the milni embraces to the blessings of the sangat. We bring a long lens and a light touch, so the four laavan are captured from the sides of the gurdwara at a respectful distance. We take the time beforehand to understand your family's customs and the order of the maiyan, mehndi and jaggo.

Couples come to us from right across London and the surrounding area, and Islington is firmly on our patch. Islington is a fashionable inner north London borough, and we know its gurdwaras well. We also cover nearby Kensington and Chelsea and Lambeth. Venues we have photographed at near Islington include Islington Town Hall and Islington Assembly Hall.

A fashionable inner north London borough centred on Upper Street and Angel, with a lively mix of shops, theatres and restaurants. Served by Angel station on the Northern line and Highbury and Islington station on the Victoria line and London Overground. We often take couples to Highbury Fields, the borough's largest open space for a few quiet portraits, and The Emirates Stadium, home of Arsenal, in Highbury is a lovely backdrop nearby.

What we offer

Sikh wedding coverage in Islington

01

The Anand Karaj

From the milni and the kirtan to the four laavan before the Guru Granth Sahib, every part understood and captured.

02

Whole-Day Coverage

From the morning kirtan in the gurdwara to the last bhangra of the reception, told as one story.

03

The Ardaas

The standing prayer that frames the Anand Karaj, captured as the sangat bow before the Guru Granth Sahib.

Every tradition

Punjabi and Sikh customs understood

Heads covered and seated on the floor with the sangat, we photograph the laavan without ever intruding. The exchange of garlands and the joy of the sangat around the couple are moments we love to photograph. For families holding a Sri Akhand Path, we photograph the continuous reading with quiet reverence.

The reception is the joyful finale, with speeches, the first dance, bhangra and giddha. From the turmeric of the maiyan to the music of the jaggo, the events set the tone for the wedding. The maiyan, when turmeric is applied, is full of colour and play, and often holds the warmest moments.

A multi-day Sikh wedding can run across three or four days, and we plan our coverage around all of them. We can join you for a single event or follow the whole journey from the very first ritual.

We document the grand moments and the quiet ones in between, so nothing is lost. On the wedding day, the milni, the Anand Karaj and the four laavan build to the doli and the reception.
